Another tape surfaced a couple months
later, supposedly showing an American
soldier's execution....But the dark and
grainy images revealed only the back
of the victim's head and not the
actual shooting. Finally - after 4
long
years - Maupin's fate is known.

Meanwhile - Baghdad's US-protected
Green Zone is AGAIN under attack this
morning, just hours after authorities
lifted a 3-day curfew aimed at stopping
the recent surge of violence.
An estimated 400 people have been
killed during the past week in clashes
between US-backed government forces
and Shia militias. The clashes started
in Basra after the government began
raiding militia strongholds but quickly
spread to other southern cities and
flared in the capital.
The strength of the resistance took the
government by surprise...Forcing them
to bring in reinforcements and ask for
coalition airstrikes.
Powerful shi'ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr
has ordered the militiamen off the
streets but demanded the government
stop arresting his followers.

Pentagon officials are now warning that
if the clashes continue, some of the
hard-won security gains may be at risk.

Wyoming is sending up to 300
prisoners into Virginia's state prison
system.
The two year transfer deal could
generate more than 18 million dollars
for the state.
Inmates will be held at
facilities in Wise and Tazewell
Counties.
This is just one of the ways
Virginia's prison system is trying to
make money instead of closing prisons
or laying off workers.

Meanwhile - Baghdad's US-protected
Green Zone is AGAIN under attack this
morning, just hours after authorities
lifted a 3-day curfew aimed at stopping
the recent surge of violence.
An estimated 400 people have been
killed during the past week in clashes
between US-backed government forces
and Shia militias. The clashes started
in Basra after the government began
raiding militia strongholds but quickly
spread to other southern cities and
flared in the capital.
The strength of the resistance took the
government by surprise...Forcing them
to bring in reinforcements and ask for
coalition airstrikes.
Powerful shi'ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr
has ordered the militiamen off the
streets but demanded the government
stop arresting his followers.

outside Baghdad.
Maupin's captors wanted to trade him
for Iraqi prisoners, but the U-S

fluorescent lightbulbs.
The program is called "Lighting
the Way to a Better World."

The two organizations send
representatives to Habitat homes and
replace the owner's standard lightbulbs
with CFLs for free.
The plan is to install at least
500 CFLs in the Habitat homes.
Each bulb uses 75-percent less
energy and last ten times longer than
standard lightbulbs.
The RVCCC estimates the 500 bulbs
will save homeowners a combined
20-thousand dollars in electricity and
bulb replacement costs.

Coalition will provide compact
fluorescent light bulbs for new Habitat
homes, as well as existing ones.

While compact fluorescent bulbs
save money in energy costs, there is
some concern about the mercury inside
of the CFLs.
The EPA says there's less mercury
in the lightbulbs than in a
thermometer.
In case of breakage, open
windows, leave the room for 15 minutes
and shut off your central air.
Carefully pick up glass fragments
and place them in a glass jar with a
metal lid... like a canning jar.
Use sticky tape to pick up the
remaining fragments and powder.

If a CFL breaks on a hard
surface, the EPA says, do not use a
vacuum or a broom to clean it up.
If one breaks on a rug or carpet,
you can use a vacuum, but empty the
canister or remove the bag and dispose
of it in a sealed plastic bag.
The CFLs are great for
energy saving, but everyone needs to be
careful in handling them.
