for families of the victims of the
Virginia Tech shootings to make a
decision about a recent settlement.

Families will have another week
to respond to the deal the state's
proposing -- 100 thousand dollars and a
chance to talk to the governor and
university officials about the
shootings.

The originial deadline was
yesterday, now it's April 7th, next
Monday.

will become a permanent one.

shootings, a semi-circle of 32 stones
was placed on the drillfield in front
of Burruss Hall.

University President Charles

Steger said yesterday plans to build a
new memorial have been dropped.

Organizers have also been meeting
to discuss the peace center that will
be established in the building where
most of the shootings took place.

Renovation of the second-floor
classrooms could begin this summer.

that begins Friday.

al-Sadr. The government's failure to
force

his Mahdi army militia from Basra has
boosted the shi'ite cleric's

standing....proving he remains a
powerful force capable of challenging
the

government.

The cease-fire only became a reality
after he ordered his followers to stand

down, and in doing so demanded
concessions from the government.

The relative break in violence allowed
residents to finally bury their dead.

The week of battles claimed about 400
lives, helping to make March the

deadliest month for Iraqis since last
summer.

While Baghdad slowly returns to what
passes for normal, Basra remains under

curfew. Schools there will re-open
today, but the Iraqi miltary's still on

the streets, with American troops
stationed just outside of town.

Despite fears the surge in violence
might affect plans to withdraw some U-S

troops, the Pentagon says the
roll-backs planned for Spring are still
on

schedule.

sister leaves one dead in Halifax
County.

57-year-old Carol Murray Wolfe
was found dead yesterday morning at her
home on Cherry Hill Church Road.

Her brother, 61-year-old Kenneth
Wesley Murray is charged with first
degree murder.

Investigators say Murray and
Wolfe were seen arguing shortly before
the murder happened.

Murray is being held in the Blue
Ridge Regional Jail without bond.

Police have charged three boys
and one girl.

The charges range from
distribution of child pornography to

An investigation by the Sheriff's
office led to 29 charges against them.

They're accused of everything

decision about a recent settlement.

Families will have another week
to respond to the deal the state's

proposing -- 100 thousand dollars and a

fog will continue this morning. A warm COMM front passes to our north Tuesday. This
will lead to more clouds and showers.
However, temperatures should climb back
into the upper 60s thanks to a
southerly wind. Late Tuesday night, a
cold front will begin to clear things
out for us and put and brief end to the
showery pattern. As a result, look for
increasing sunshine Wednesday with
highs in the 60s. Another cool air
wedge will likely develop Thursday.
However, this one doesn't look very
strong. Highs will only manage 50
degrees Thursday with a few showers.
Friday, a cold front will arrive,
dismantling the wedge and bringing
