Congress is demanding to know why
gasoline is pushing four dollars a
gallon!
Prices at the pump have jumped a
staggering 25 percent in the past year
alone....while the top five oil
companies in the U-S turned record
profits.
Sot: Rep. Ed Markey/ (D) Massachusetts
"These unjustifiable profits are
releflected in how little these
companies put
into renewable energy resources to
find an alternative to oil."
Exxon-Mobil earned 40 billion dollars
last year, but lawmakers say the firm
invested only 10 million in renewable
resources.
Big oil blames the high price of gas on
the soaring cost of crude oil and says
profits are high because their
companies are so big.
(Susan Roberts bridge)
In addition to justifying their
profits...oil company executives are
fighting to keep 18 billion dollars in
tax breaks stretched over 10 years.
The House approved a bill last year to
remove those breaks, but the measure
has not passed in the Senate.
(nats truck)
The high cost of gas is pushing food
prices up across the nation.
Independent
truckers are now considering a one day
strike to protest the price of diesel
fuel.
(nats Obama)
The issue has not been lost on the
Presidential candidates. Hillary
Clinton
met with truckers Monday, while Barack
Obama stopped at a gas station.
Sot: Sen. Barack Obama
"it is no wonder that at a time when
oil companies are posting record
profits,
consumers are paying 4 dollars a
gallon, that is wrong."
And with the summer driving season
approaching...lawmakers know pressure
is increasing to get the price of gas
down...but exactly how to do
that...remains a daunting challenge.

Center. Showers along with drizzle and
fog will continue this morning. A warm
front passes to our north Tuesday. This
will lead to more clouds and showers.
However, temperatures should climb back
into the upper 60s thanks to a
southerly wind. Late Tuesday night, a
cold front will begin to clear things
out for us and put and brief end to the
showery pattern. As a result, look for
increasing sunshine Wednesday with
highs in the 60s. Another cool air

However, this one doesn't look very
strong. Highs will only manage 50

Friday, a cold front will arrive,
