OQ= NEWS 7, HALIFAX COUNTY. << It's not the rain that has these
(END SOT) dugouts empty at Halifax County High

School.

Practice is canceled, because a
key member of the team is gone.

"The comet community was
devastated this morning when we got the
news of Tyler's accident."

Associate principal Deborah
Griles says Tyler Hunt was involved
with just about everything - in the
classroom and on the field.

Justin Bagbey played baseball and
football with Hunt.

Justin Bagbey: "He always worked
hard at what he did. He put a hundred
percent into everything he did. He's
just an all around good kid and
athlete."

Those who watched Hunt off the
field say they'll remember him for his
work ethic.

"He would be over on weekends
hitting in the batting cage or throwing
and I would always see him when I was
over here."

"Students won't have to go far
back for a good memory of Tyler's

athletic ability. He played right here
on this field Wednesday night."

"Last night, he started on the
mound for us, did a pretty good job
too."

"The game actually went 11
innings. He did not get the win but he
battled and kept us in the ball game
and did a good job for us."

Hunt won't be returning to the
mound, but his friends are hitting the
field for him.

A memorial now stands where Hunt
would have been pitching - showing off
all the things he loved.

And giving those who loved him a
chance to reflect.

"He was known pretty well around.
He did everything right, he never did
anything to anybody bad. Just a good
all around kid."

"He was one of those young men
that you always remembered because of
his good manners and the fact that he
was a good peer friend for everyone."

Signs around school remind
students that Tyler will forever be a
comet.

But those who knew him say his

legacy will be a reminder all by
itself.

"We're gonna miss him. Baseball
team's gonna miss him. Football team's
gonna miss him. The school is gonna
miss him - our community is gonna miss
him because he was such a good person."
