Here at Harding Avenue Elementary-- 30
students are giving a helping hand.
Whether it be raking leaves or putting
on a fresh coat of paint--- no job is
too small and no task too tall.
IT IMPACTS PEOPLE'S LIVES EVERY DAY
AND NOT JUST TODAY BUT THROUGHOUT THE
YEAR AND THAT'S THE POINT TO GIVE BACK
ONE BIG DAY.. ONE BIG THANKS TO THE
COMMUNITY OF BLACKSBURG.
THEY'RE SUPPORT FOR US-- THEY CAME OUT
STRONG TO THE VIGIL LAST SPRING, I'M

repairs to the outside of her house.
Helen Oliver has lived in this
home on East Main Street ever since she
was born.
The 83-year-old says the house is
about 200 years old and was in
desperate need of some fixing-up.

their animals vaccinated.
The Health Department and several
animal groups sponsored the community
clinic hoping to cut down on the number
of rabies cases in the Valley.
730 cases - reported last year.
The shots ranged from five to ten

drive by shooting outside the priest's
new home where he and his wife had

In his radio address, Senator Joe
Biden, called last-year's U-S troop
surge, a failure.

after a house fire in Wisconsin this
weekend.

Authorities say the fire swept
through a two-story home near the
University of Wisconsin-Stout campus -
about 70 miles east of St. Paul.
Firefighters arrived on the scene
just minutes after the call came in at
about three-thirty in the morning.
They don't know why the students
didn't wake up since the smoke
detectors were working.
Two of the victims were from the
Wisconsin area, the third from
Minnesota.

where North Carolina's Roy Williams
squared off with his former team, the
Kansas Jayhawks in one national
semifinal. The schools have combined
for 30 Final Four appearances and 6
national titles.

20 minutes. Hansbrough has his shot

Carolina rallied though in the
second half. First it's Tyler
Hansbrough working hard down low. He
gets the hoop and the hack for the
Heels. Hansbrough put in 17 on the

Then Wayne Ellington gets it
done on the backdoor. Carolina was
within 4 at 54 to 50. Ellington
finished with 18 points.
Kansas answered though with a

the softball diamond. Tincher struck
out 14 batters, helping the Hokies beat

its first scrimmage of the spring
today. Jahre Cheeseman rushed for 53
yards on 6 carries while Darren Evans
gained 54 yards on 8 carries. Jason
Worilds had five tackles on defense,

Speaking of racing, nearly a
hundred runners showed up at the
Greenfield Rec Park this morning for
the first annual Botetourt Trot 5k
race.
The event, which took place on
the Lord Botetourt Cross Country
course, raises money for Young Life
Ministries and helps send junior high
and high schoolers to summer Young Life
Camp.
There was even a contest to see
who could where the most unique running
attire.
