Virginia State Police have
confirmed- shooting suspect Steven
Dale Branscome has been caught in
Texas.

More details will be released at
1:30 this afternoon during a press
conference at the Floyd County
Courthouse.
Branscome had been on the run
from authorities for more than a week,
after allegedly shooting a Virgnia
State Trooper who was attempting to
serve him a warrant.

Charlton Heston passed away
yesterday at the age of 84.
His family says Heston passed
away at his home in Beverly Hills, with
his wife Lydia by his side.

He became a mega star by portraying
Moses in the Ten Commandments....

Lord."
...and made a reputation playing larger
than life figures from world history.
With his chiseled good looks, muscular
build and deep, theatrical voice,
Charlton Heston was a natural to play
El Cid, Michelangelo, John the Baptist
and Marc Antony to name a few.
NAT UP from Ben Hur:
He won an Academy Award for the title
role in Ben Hur. In movie goers' minds,
Heston, with his piercing blue-eyed
stare, came to personify the
unflinching hero. But by the 1960s, the
reign of the epic film passed and
Heston began appearing in westerns, war
dramas, science fiction and disaster
movies. Some of them, like Planet of
the Apes, became classics.

A civil rights activist during the
sixties, Heston later embraced
conservative causes, most notably as
the controversial president of the
National Rifle Association.

But like his friend Ronald Reagan,
Heston, the star who could lick all the
odd on the movie screen, couldn't do so
in real life. In 2002, he publicly
announced that he suffered from
Alzheimer's disease.

part with you, which is why I won't
exclude you from this stage in my
life."
Heston said he did not want sympathy.
As an actor, he was thankful that he
lived, not one life, but many.

suicide bomber attacked the opening
ceremonies of a marathon outside Sri
Lanka's capital.

Authorities say a government
minister was among those killed.
Initial reports say he was
speaking at the beginning of the race
when the bomb went off.
Besides those killed- it's
believed more than 90 were injured.
Officials blamed Sunday's bombing
on Tamil ta-mil Tiger rebels.
This was the second blast this
year resulting in the death of a senior
government official in the country.

others in the hospital following an
explosion n New Zealand.

Firefighters responded to reports
of gas fumes at the Icepak Group's
coolstore.
The plant, which contained gas
and flammable substances such as
cheese, exploded as crews entered the
plant.
The cause of the blaze is not yet
known, but Fire Service officials say a
gas leak might have been responsible.

Center. A widespread, steady rain fell
however, that will pull away today
leaving us with mostly cloudy skies,
CK/WEATHERPRO but drier conditions. A few areas
(mainly west of the Blue Ridge Parkway)
could even break out to a little
sunshine this afternoon. Cooler today,
with highs in the low and mid 50s.
High pressure to our north will create
another "wedge". Easterly winds around
10 mph will help keep clouds in place
Sunday night. Watch for areas of
drizzle and patchy fog. Lows in the
lower 40s.
Generally speaking, look for mostly
cloudy to partly sunny skies Monday and
Tuesday. The "wedge" will still be in
place, and this will mean more clouds
for hometowns in the eastern viewing
area than the west. High temperatures
should climb from the mid 50s Monday,
to the lower 60s Tuesday.
Wednesday and Thursday call for
variably cloudy skies, perhaps a 20%
chance of a light shower. Highs are
expected in the upper 60s as winds turn
from the southwest.
There's a 30% chance of showers Friday,
with otherwise partly sunny to mostly
cloudy skies. Highs should hit the
lower 70s for the last day of the work
week.
