project that will move containers off
tractor trailers onto trains and vice

eventually take 150- thousand trucks
off I- 81 and other Virginia highways
each year.
It'll also create nearly three-
thousand new jobs.

stacked on trains headed for either
Norfolk or the midwest.

Danville.
Police were called to the 100
block of Pleasantview Avenue shortly
after one.
19-year-old Wykeema McClark, from
Danville has been charged with

20-year-old from Danville, was in

stabbed by a teenager late Sunday
night.

for a cab shortly before eleven.
After having the driver take him
to a rural area, Garland stabbed the
driver, took the driver's cell phone
and fled.

victim of a robbery Sunday afternoon.
Blacksburg police were called to
the 1300 block of Patrick Henry Drive
around 4:30.
They say two men beat the victim
until he handed over cash, a credit
card, and his cell phone.
He was not seriously injured.
The suspects are believed to be
between 18 and 20 years old.
Anyone with information is asked
to contact the Blacksburg Police
Department.

Six years and a 5 million mile
trip to the international space station
separate Leland Melvin from his last
trip to Heritage High School.
Even though he now calls Texas
home, he still thinks of Lynchburg and
his alma mater often.
Leland Melvin: "It's the people
and the pride I have for being a
Pioneer that have really helped me
throughout my career."
Coming back as an astronaut is
something Melvin says he never pictured
as a student at Heritage.
In those days, his focus was on
sports.
"As a kid I always thought you
can do anything you put your mind to,
but being an astronaut was not one of
them."
Getting kids to dream big is the
reason behind this visit.
Melvin wants students to see that
roots in central Virginia can take you
anywhere.
"Use me as a tool to get to where
you want to go. Interview me, ask me
questions, find out how can I get to
this point in my life."
Students say they're thankful to
have someone like Melvin as an example.

sunshine, this may help temperatures to
climb into the mid 60s. It looks like
by Thursday we'll notice this wedge
breaking, leading to increasing
sunshine. A warm front will also pass
north, this means afternoon highs will
soar well into the 70s. A big
difference from how we started the
week. Friday will feature increasing
clouds and a slight chance of showers
as a cold front approaches. High will
remain warm (upper 70s) with overcast
skies. As the cold front pushes east,
it looks like the best chance of
showers and storms will be Saturday
(40%) with highs in the 70s. Things

A coroner's jury has now ruled
that the Princess and her boyfriend
Dodi Fayed were unlawfully killed
through the reckless actions of their
driver and the paparazzi in 1997.
The jury had been told that a
verdict of unlawful killing would
mean that they believed the reckless
behavior amounted to
manslaughter.
It was the most severe verdict
available to them.

more trouble along its international
route.

Officials extinguished the torch
twice this morning because of threats
from anti-China protesters in Paris.
The torch relay started at the
Eiffel Tower.
Hundreds of protesters were
there.
Runners are supposed to carry it
past the city's major cultural
sights...But it had to be placed on a
bus for a brief period this morning...
until officials decided the route was
clear enough for torchbearers to
continue on by foot.
Protesters also demonstrated
yesterday in London.. It's in response
to China's recent crackdown in Tibet.

The nation's lowest gas prices are in
Newark, New Jersey...at 3-dollars and-3
