in a shooting a couple of months ago
has been indicted by a grand jury on a
charge of unlawful wounding.

February On February 14th, a 17-year-old
was shot on Maryland Avenue after
police say he tried to run from a
traffic stop.
The Roanoke Police Department
investigated the shooting, and handed
the facts of the criminal investigation
over to the Roanoke Commonwealth's
Attorneys Office.
The Disciplinary Review Board
will study the internal investigation,
and decide whether disciplinary action
is required.
Officer D. Meyer will remain on
paid administrative leave pending the
outcome of the court proceedings.

semi-finals and one that last won a
national championship 20 years ago when
assistant coach Danny Manning was the
star.
Memphis was favored by two and
the Tigers had their moments in the
first 20 minutes as Joey Dorsey gets
the jam off the steal.
But for the most part Memphis was
too erratic. Derek Rose got only four
shots and had just three points at the
break.
And that wasn't enough as Kansas
led the game 33-to-28 at the halftime
break.
But Memphis came out rolling to
open the second 20 minutes and quickly
got right back in the game.
And a game it was in the final
half as the two teams stayed within a
point of two of each other until
Memphis started to get a working margin
around the six minute mark - thanks to
Rose, who started to dominate on the
Memphis end of the floor.
But give it to Kansas - the
Jayhawks kept fighting back and Memphis
missed some big free throws late. That
allowed Mario Chalmers to hit this
three pointer with two second to go to
send the game at overtime tied at
63-all.
Kansas erased a nine point
Memphis lead in two minutes and then
owned the overtime.
The Jayhawks devastate Memphis
with a 75 to 68 overtime win.

Southern plans to build it in Elliston.

Four homes and a farm will be
displaced by the project...
Construction is still a ways off.

police say he tried to run from a
traffic stop.
The Roanoke Police Department
investigated the shooting, and handed

will study the internal investigation,

Street fighting in Baghdad is as bad as
it's been in months... as U-S and
Iraqi forces battle in Sadr city to
drive out Shia militiamen. 11 U-S
soldiers have been killed in the past
3 days across the country.
With security gains still shaky,
Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker are
expected
to again recommend that further
withdrawals of troops be put on hold
after
20-thousand come home in July.

police officer for unlawful wounding
for his involvement in a shooting a
couple of months ago.
A 17-year-old was shot on Maryland
Avenue after police say he tried to run
from a traffic stop.

outcome of the court proceedings.

made...Norfolk-Southern will build the
Roanoke- area intermodal rail facility
in Elliston.
