signed into law today.

Most of the new laws are designed
to improve Virginia's mental health
system.
They include new criteria for
when a person can be committed....
A standard that focuses more on
public safety and less on personal
rights.
The new laws also clarify when
information can be shared.
If a college counselor determines
a student may, in the near future, harm
himself or someone else, the school may
notify the student's parents.
Also, starting this summer, once
a student has been accepted for
admission, colleges and universities
can request mental health records from
the student's last school.

crack cocaine conviction.

torch in San Francisco today as it made
its only stop in North America on the
way to Beijing.

facing off as the flame makes its
journey along San Francisco Bay.
They are protesting China's human
rights record and even booed the
runners, who were surrounded by police
officers.
Despite some arrests and
scuffles, no major problems disrupted

allergic reactions to the drug.

40-rabbits were seized from a farm
after charges of neglect were leveled
against the owner.
Initially they were taken to the
SPCA - but then the animal rescue
group, Angels of Assisi brought them to
Harmony Animal Sanctuary.
The bunnies have multiplied and
there are now 65 of them.

Saturday, but come the Saturday for the
State Football Championship Games at
the Triple "A" level it will be
dormant.
The Virginia High School League
will not return to Charlottesville for
their Division 5 and 6 State Title
games in 2-thousand and 8.
This because of Finacial reasons.

2-thouand and 7 were higher than
forcast and expected to be even higher
this up coming season.
Ken Tilley the V-H-S-L Executive
Director told News 7 Sports today that
is the reason for the move.
Tilley also said that Virginia
Tech has put in a bid to host the games
at Lane Stadium, but the V-H-S-L was
looking for other suggestions from
their Regions, that would be in closer
proximity to more of the Triple "A"
Schools.
A Decision will be made on May

Carolina. Celik signed his letter of
intent this aftern, he also played
soccer for the Roanoke Stars and plans
to study business.
The other signee is
swimmer Dani Van Kerckhove (Van
Kirk-Off) who will continue her
education and swinning career at
Radford University in the fall. She
has qualified for the Group Two A state
meet in three of her four years.
