Now a senior in the Virginia Tech Corp

Adhan Barquawi takes a moment to
reflect on the names of the fallen
heros before him.

IT'S A VERY EMOTIONAL MOMENT BECAUSE
WHAT THE CORP REALLY PROMOTES IS THE
CONCEPT OF SELFLESS SERVICE

Here at the National D- Day Memorial--
another plaque is unveiled--
recognizing the 20 Virginia Tech cadets

who lost their lives in the Normandy
Campaign during World War Two.

THE NORMANDY CAMPAIGN WAS THE MOST
CONDENSED SERIES OF LOSSES WE SUFFERED
THROUGH OUT THE WHOLE WAR-- SO IT'S
VERY PERSONAL TO US.

DURING WORLD WAR TWO- VIRGINIA TECH
WAS KNOWN AS VIRGINIA POLYTECHNIC
INSTITUTE. VPI WAS AN ACTIVE DUTY
MILITARY INSTALLATION-- MORE THAN 7
THOUSAND ALUMNI SERVED THEIR COUNTRY--
323 DIED IN SERVICE.

The alumni director of this group of
cadets says the price of freedom is as
high today as it was on D-Day. He's
certain these young men and women who
stand before him-- will make their
predacessors just as proud.

He says the character of this current
group was valiantly displayed-- with
the recent tragedy that hit so close to
home.

THEIR WERE SOME THAT DAY WHO MOVED TO
THE SOUND OF THE GUNS, WHO TRIED TO

HELP THEIR FELLOW MAN DURING THOSE VERY
TRYING CIRCUMSTANCES.

mstevens@wdbj7.com It's funny how things seem to
happen in a weird chain reaction sort
of way.

As soon as the Hokies kicked
Brandon Ore out of the program spring

practice opened and then ended for his
heir apparent Kenny Lewis this past
Friday with a shoulder injury.

GRAPHIC=CHEESEMAN Then today, his back-up Jahre

Cheeeseman got injured breaking his leg
in a scrimmage a week before the annual
Maroon and White spring game.

2008 Spring Practice was expected to carry the load at
tailback the rest of the spring after
Lewis suffered a torn labrum in his
left shoulder.

Cheeseman suffered a broken left
fibula and was slated to undergo
surgery later tonight. If things go
well, he could be back by July.

That leaves Dustin Pickle, Darren
Evans and Josh Oglesby at the tailback
spot for the final week of spring
practice.

Sullivan, the reigning national
club pro champ was the only one of the
10 competitors to crack the 300 yard
mark as he screamed one 314 yards off
the tee.

Roanoke College's Patrick Guzzi
finished second witha top drive of 286
yards, while Charlie Kuehn was third
with a 277 yard effort.

Robbie Craft had the fourth best
drive of the day hittting one 274 yards
- and the youngest competitor in the
field Michael Wade - the Radford
University bound senior from Floyd
County hit won 268 yards.

But no one could come close to
Sullivan's driving prowess.

The bad news is that Trevor

faltering, but instead getting
stronger.
