January 17, 2006 It came from a crime committed
more than a year before that.
In January, 2006...
Donnie Seiz was found dead of
blunt force trauma... in the bedroom of
his Apartment on King George Avenue in
Old Southwest Roanoke.
He'd apparently been in a dispute
with a woman down the street...one of
two women who had tried to break into
his apartment just days before he was
killed.

scene to the State Crime Lab.
Ten days ago the lab reported a
hit from the D-N-A Data Bank
Now police are trying to confirm
the link to a 47-year old woman,

investigators are still plowing through
evidence.
In an update today, Virginia
State Police say state and local
officers are still following up on new
leads,

Transcription of more than 450
phone calls has just been completed and
is now being reviewed.
Analysis of some 250 pieces of
ballistic evidence is done and is now

found Cho's computer hard-drive, cell
phone or his wallet.

Supervisors has been arrested for
imbedding razor blades in a campaign
sign.
Timothy Alan Beverly was
running for a seat on the board last
November.
The sherif'f's office says he
put the blades inside his own campaign
sign which was placed on someone else's
property.

to remove the sign, he severely cut his
hand.
The Sheriff's Office had to
wait for D-N-A analysis before charging
Beverly with malicious wounding.
Beverly finished fourth in
the race for the District 3 seat.

early morning hours battling a blaze on
Ninth Street.

a-m. The house was fully involved when
crews got there.
The home was being renovated
and is considered a total loss.
No one was injured, though some
people who live next door had to leave
their home because of a downed power
line and gas being shut off to the
area.

Center. FREEZING TEMPERATURES EXPECTED
TONIGHT AND TUESDAY NIGHT: A few
sprinkles/snow showers will fall mainly
in the western mountains this evening
as an upper level disturbance moves
through. A few mountainous areas may
see some light accumulation. It's
mainly the cold temperatures that will
be the main focus for many hometowns.
Skies are expected to become clear, and
with light winds, frost is possible in
the southern Shenandoah Valley, east to
Lynchburg and Southside. Overnight lows
will drop to the upper 20s to low 30s.
North of Roanoke (in the Highlands,
east to Lexington) a Freeze Warning has
been issued where sub-freezing (hard
freeze) temperatures are likely for
several hours. This would kill crops
and other sensitive vegetation. Take
action to protect plants. Tuesday
through Friday looks partly to mostly
sunny as high pressure builds into the
area. Afternoon highs should begin to
climb from the mid 50s Tuesday, to the
mid 70s Thursday and Friday. A few
models are hinting a cold front will
pass through Saturday. At the moment,
we'll keep only the slightest shower
chance in for Saturday and Sunday.
MONDAY NIGHT: Evening shower, partial
clearing. Low: 35 TUESDAY: AM Frost.

death of a former football star
tonight.

VO-NAT Buzz Nutter, the starting center
on the Colts' NFL championship teams of
1958 and 1959 died on Saturday of
complications from heart illness at the
age of 77.
Nutter played football for
the Hokies and was a 12th-round draft
choice of the Washington Redskins in
1953. He failed to make the Skins team
that year and returned to his native
West Virginia to work in the steel
mills.
A year later, he earned a spot on
the Colts roster.
In 1961, Nutter was traded to the
Pittsburgh Steelers, where he made
All-Pro. he played a total of 12
seasons in the NFL

Portsmouth Invitational Tournament a
showcase for N-B-A Scouts of Senior
Basketball Players held annually in
Southeastern Virginia was successful
for a couple players from here in the
Commonwealth.

was named to the All-Tournament team.
Deron averaged 17 points over 3 games.
That included 5 3-pointers made and
shooting eighty percent from the Free
Throw Line.
He was joined on the
All-Tournament team by V-M-I's Reggie
Williams who scored a game high 22
Points in both a first round game and
the Championship game.
Williams led Division 1 in
scoring for the second straight season.
