He figures there's something

County home this morning.

Flames were so intense at one
point that firefighters had to pull out
of the house.
The owner was at home when the
fire broke out, but he was able to get
out safely.

it could but since there's one less

more connections locally and since both
companies have a strong overseas
presence, one day we could be seeing an
international flight or two as well.

be the first anniversary of the April
16th rampage that left 32 dead on
campus last year.

OQ=...NEWS 7 SPORTS << For the past year Frank Beamer
(END SOT) has been a spokesman for the
university, and admirer of the school's
resiliency and like so many of us often
times an emotional onlooker.
He's one of those "the glass is
half full" optimists - who believes
with all his heart that a lot of good
has come out of that horrific day.
FRANK BEAMER
Beamer and his players knew much
of the burden of propping up the Hokie
Nation would fall on their shoulders.
They embraced the responsibility by
doing everything from wearing
commemorative patches to winning an ACC
Championship.
But Beamer knows there is no
title or period of time that can erase
the lasting sting of that day.

Last year the Hokies canceled the
Spring game out of respect to the
fallen. This Saturday a huge crowd is
expected at Lane Stadium as the Hokies
gather for the annual Maroon and White
contest that like so many things is

just wrapped up but next year's
schedule is already in the works.
The Match-ups for the 10th annual
A-C-C Big Ten Challenge were announced.
TAKE FS GFX TAKE FS GFX
CG2 13600 The first of 11 games will be
Virginia Tech hosting Wisconsin at
Cassell Coliseum on Monday December
1st. It is the only game of the
challenge on that day and it will be
the first ever meeting between the 2
schools. Wisconsion won a school
record 31 games last season and
advanced to the sweet 16.
CG2 13601 The Second night of the challenge
features the Virginia Cavaliers going
on the road to face Minnesota on
Tuesday December 2nd. That is one of 5
games on the docket for that day.
The A-C-C has won the previous 9
challenges between the 2 Conferences.
