serious accident involving a moped.

It happened around 9:30 last night at
the intersection of Melrose and
Lafayette.

Witnesses tell us the moped flipped
several times in the air.

Police say the male driver hit a street
sign, knocking it over.

The driver was transported to Roanoke
Memorial Hospital.

His condition is unknown but
witnesses say he appeared to have
serious injuries.

January 2006.....in the bedroom of his
old Southwest apartment.

Neighbors said he'd been in a
dispute with a woman down the
street...one of two women who had tried
to break into his apartment.

workers have reached a tentative
agreement, but work is still on hold
until they take a vote.

The contract between the
corporation and union workers has NOT
expired.

But there is - what's called a
built in wage re-opener - That lets
the two parties discuss a possible

They say they haven't had one in

Larry Battle, the union president
for the International Association of
Machinists and Aerospace workers Local
2533, says the membership voted
overwhelmingly to strike because of
wages.

Anthony is facing some legal trouble.

suspicion of driving under the
influence.

Police say the Denver Nuggets
star was pulled over after weaving and
failing to dim his lights.

Anthony was alone in the car and
failed a series of sobriety tests at
the scene, but was ticketed and
released. Anthony consented to a
blood test, but results won't be
available for about two weeks.

Denver police don't jail DUI
suspects.

The combined company would own more

neighborhoods of Lynchburg.

Participant: "It was challenging. It
was almost frightening. It was at
times disgusting. And it was certainly
maddening and infuriating."

But residents who took part in
the city's dialogue on race and racism

say it's been a productive experience.

And now they have a list of 10
ideas for the city to act on.

Leslie King/Dialogue Coordinator:
"Some of the ideas can be done quickly
and others will take more time."

Education tops the list of ideas
that includes

creating a school curriculum that
promotes diversity and social
responsibility.

Citizens want to guarantee
college tuition for all graduates of
Lynchburg city schools.

And help students learn technical
skills so that dropouts and others can
find a job.

the key to success and the key to
reducing the gaps in our community."

City officials say their dialogue
on race has been one of the most
successful events of its kind in the
country.

Nearly 11-hundred people have
participated - but that hasn't

The mega-merger LOOKS good for
stockholders but what about air
travelers?

The airlines INSIST bigger is better--

But the chairman of the House
Transportation Committee doesn't see
it.

DECLINES, THE NUMBER OF COMMUNITIES
SERVED DIMINISHED, AIR FARES GO UP,

FEWER

It's a deal that could re-shape the
entire industry...Forcing other
carriers

into mergers of their own.

That's a scenario federal regulators
don't like - they think it'll mean less

competition, lower service, higher
prices....and more exposure if things
go

bad.

YOU HAVE ANOTHER ECONOMIC DOWN-TURN,

THOSE BIG CARRIERS CRASH VERY HARD."

But it's a tough time for airlines
RIGHT NOW. The industry still hasn't

bounced back from 9-11 and the
combination of sky-rocketing fuel costs
and

intense competition from budget outfits
like Jet Blue and Southwest has many

barely hanging on...and passengers
increasingly unhappy.

serious accident involving a moped.

victims of the shooting rampage on
April 16-th in what the university
calls...A Day of Remembrance.

News 7 will provide live coverage
of the memorial service on the drill
field that begins at 10:30 Wednesday
