32 people and wounded several others
before taking his own life.
Classes are canceled today as the
Tech community pays tribute to the
victims in a Day of Remembrance.

Kimberly, the Day of Remembrance
began at midnight as the Virginia Tech
Corps of Cadets lit a flame on the
drillfield.

The ceremony was very brief, only
lasting about five minutes.
Nearly a thousand students came
out to see two cadets and a
representative from SGA light a large
candle at the April 16th memorial.
The light is in honor of all 32
victims which includes Matthew La
Porte.
He was a cadet and member of the
Highty-Tighties.
Cadets will take turns standing
guard alongside the candle throughout
the day.

old child was hospitalized after a car
accident in Montgomery County.
Authorities are still
investigating, but they say a 2000
Chevy Blazer flipped over on Piney
Woods Road in Christiansburg last night
around 8 o' clock.
When police arrived, they found a
one year old secure in a baby seat.
The child was taken to a local
hospital, and later released.
The driver, a 37 year old woman,
was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial
Hospital and she was also released.
The passenger, a 35 year old man,
died at the scene.

accident on Route 220 in Alleghany
County.
It happened yesterday afternoon
around five, just south of route 778.
Forty-five-year-old Jeffrey Neal
Keyes crossed into traffic traveling in
the opposite direction and hit a truck.
He was not wearing his seat belt,
and died at the hospital.
The driver of the truck,
40-year-old Julie Hoffman from
Covington, was taken to Alleghany
Regional Hospital with
non-lifethreatening injuries.

Kimberly Overstreet.
She was last seen on April tenth.
Police believe she ran away from
home, but she does require medication

Kimberly is a white female.

She was last seen wearing blue

2006 Football National Trophy fell off
its stand and broke last week.

The Florida Football staff is
moving into new offices, and the Trophy
was in a temporary location.
The table it was on got bumped by
a recruit who was on campus visiting
the University-- and the Crystal
Football on top got knocked off and
broken.
The Trophy was insured for 8
thousand dollars, and they have already
ordered a replacement.
The Gators do have a second
trophy they ordered when they won the
National title.
That one was on display at
Florida's Spring Game this past
weekend.

rarely stops.
"We build gas tanks. We build
fenders, fronts, rears, we do oil
tanks."
But all that came to a halt in
January, when the entire shop turned
its focus to a special project.
"I kind of came up with the idea
of doing a Tech bike and giving the
money to charity."
Randy Simpson worked with his
friend and colleague John Wright, to
bring a moving memorial to life.
"We wanted to give a little life
back of some sort, so we decided to
build a motorcycle."
Over a span of three weeks,
design teams in Lynchburg and Myrtle
Beach, South Carolina put their minds
together to build a one-of-a-kind bike,
to honor the victims of April 16th.
Houston Walghall: "It was a lot
of work in a short amount of time."
"It's always fun when you can
work on a high profile bike like that."
The finished product is a tribute
to the school itself.
"The VIN number on it is Virginia
Tech. We've designed the bike for
"V's" and there is a VT resemblance on
the motorcycle."
From the exhaust pipe, to the
engine, every part of the bike was a
gift.
"The custom mirrors, the
controls, everything's been donated.
The time."
Building the bike was a difficult
journey.
"So many emotions come through
when you're doing something like this"
"Everybody that lost their lives
that day, I mean that was kind of what
was on everybody's mind."
But a chance to create something
positive.
"It's a one-off, it will never be
reproduced, and we're just proud of
it."
A one of a kind bike, made to
help others, and give the Hokie nation
a rolling salute.

America to use a new method for
harvesting eggs.

will start producing organically grown
eggs next month.
The farm is using new equipment
that allows chickens to lay eggs
comfortably and gives them more room to
move around.
The process has been used in
Europe for a few years, but this is the
first operation in the US to try the

believes it will give consumers a
better product.

Nearly a thousand students came
out and stood in silence as two cadets
and a representative from SGA light a
large candle at the April 16th
memorial.
The light is in honor of all 32
victims which includes Matthew La
Porte.
He was a cadet and member of the
Highty-Tighties.
Cadets will take turns standing
guard alongside the candle throughout
the day.

old child was hospitalized after a car
accident in Montgomery County.
Authorities are still
investigating, but they say a 2000
Chevy Blazer flipped over on Piney
Woods Road in Christiansburg last night
around 8 o' clock.
When police arrived on the scene
they found a one year old secure in a
baby seat in the backseat.
The child was taken to a local
hospital and later released.
The driver, a 37 year old woman,
was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial
Hospital and she was also released.
The passenger, a 35 year old man,
died at the scene.

to evacuate.
This fire is just one of several

High winds are fanning the flames,

Nearly a thousand students came

and a representative from SGA light a
large candle at the April 16th
memorial.
The light is in honor of all 32
victims which includes Matthew La
Porte.

Highty-Tighties.
Cadets will take turns standing
guard alongside the candle throughout
the day.

old child was hospitalized after a car
accident in Montgomery County.
Authorities are still
investigating, but they say a 2000
Chevy Blazer flipped over on Piney
Woods Road in Christiansburg last night
around 8 o' clock.
When police arrived they found a
one year old secure in a baby seat.
The child was taken to a local
hospital and later released.
The driver, a 37 year old woman,
was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial
Hospital and she was also released.
The passenger, a 35 year old man,
died at the scene.

firefighting pilot.

All 11- hundred residents in the
southeastern town of Ordway were told
to evacuate.
This fire is just one of several
burning across Colorado.
High winds are fanning the flames,
but authorities hope an approaching
storm front will bring much-needed rain
to douse the flames.
So far, the fire's burned acros 71-
hundred acres.

Northwest airlines won't happen
overnight.

The airlines will need antitrust
approval from federal regulators and
the support of their labor force.
Also, two of Northwest's largest
unions are already signaling their
opposition.
If the merge becomes final, the

a merger will affect smaller airports
like Roanoke's if it goes through.
One possibility... a few more
connections could be added locally to
some of the company's hubs.
Local analysts say customers
could see higher ticket prices since

it cuts its overhead costs.

2006 Football National Trophy fell off
it's stand and broke last week.

The Florida Football staff is
moving into new offices and the Trophy
was in a temporary location.
The table it was on got bumped by
a recruit who was on campus visiting
the University and the Crystal Football
on top got knocked off and broken.
The Trophy was insured for 8
thousand dollars, and they have already
ordered a replacement.
The Gators do have a second
trophy they ordered with they won the
National title.
That one was on display at
Florida's Spring Game this past
weekend.
