Nationals Park becomes an open air
church this morning ...allowing
Catholic

faithful to literally, look to the
heavens. More than 40-thousand will

fill the seats, anxious to hear from
Pope Benedict the 16th. But it was his

words Wednesday night regarding the
sex abuse scandal that many were
waiting

for.

(SOT: Pope Benedict XVI)

19:04:06 "Responding to the situation
has not been as easy...it was sometimes

very badly handled."

At a Washington prayer service, the
Pontiff told hundreds of U-S bishops
it's

their job to keep children safe. He
first breached the subject on his
flight

to the U-S Tuesday, expressing deep
shame in the scandal and the Church's

intentions to keep pedophiles out of

the priesthood.

(Stand-up Bridge: Joel Brown/CBS
News/Washington D.C.)

Reaching out is crucial for a Catholic
Church that needs forgiveness in

America...and FORGIVENESS is why many
people have come to Nationals Park this

morning. 100 priests are on hand to
hear confessions.

(nat pop of Pope in Popemobile)

The Pontiff arrives in his bullet-proof
popemobile at 9:30 and will deliver

mass at 10. It will be the largest
gathering of his tour so far....but the

faithful have flanked him from the
moment he touched down Tuesday.
President

Bush rolled out the red carpet for
Benedict ..(NATS HAPPY BIRTHDAY) ...and
an

adoring crowd of more than 13-thousand
helped him celebrate his 81st birthday

at the White House.

(SOT: THERESA TAXIS and PATRICK

RODGERS)

"OH IT'S UNBELIEVABLE TO COME HERE AND
SEE! OUR BELOVED HOLY FATHER! OH MY

GOD!"

The reaction will likely be just as
joyous when he travels to New York City
on

the second and final leg of his tour.
Nearly 60-thousand will attend Mass

at Yankee Stadium. Joel Brown, News

A chemical called B-P-A widely used to
make plastic food and drink containers
- including baby bottles - may be
linked to a host of health problems.
Including breast and prostate cancer
and early puberty.

Health officials caution their analysis
found only limited evidence of risk but
said the possible effects can't be

ignored.

A compound found in red wine may help
kill pancreatic cancer.

Researchers aren't sure how but the
compound seems to cause malignant cells
to malfunction and die.

So far - this has only been done in the
lab, but testing will soon begin to see
if it happens the same way in the body.

(wipevo)

Kids who eat better perform better in
class.

It may seem obvious, but there's
actually been little research done on
the topic.

However a new study's found that eating
plenty of fruits and vegetables and not
too much fat gives kids the best recipe
for success in school.

very badly handled."

At a Washington prayer service, the
Pontiff told hundreds of U-S bishops
it's

their job to keep children safe. He
first breached the subject on his

to the U-S Tuesday, expressing deep
shame in the scandal and the Church's

intentions to keep pedophiles out of
the priesthood.

Reaching out is crucial for a Catholic
Church that needs forgiveness in

people have come to Nationals Park this

morning. 100 priests are on hand to

hear confessions.

The Pontiff arrives in his bullet-proof
