you-- he's been in the media before.
Markell's store legally sold the
gun to Sung We Cho-- the student who
killed 32 people in Blacksburg last
year.
At the time Markell did dozens of
interviews with national and local
media but then layed low.
Three weeks ago however, he sold
his store Roanoke Firearms on Cove
Road.
He says teaching people about gun
safety has always been his focus.

A woman died in a house fire just
before sunrise this morning in
Botetourt County.

Fire investigators believe the
victim was one of the homeowners--
Melissa Rickman.
She live off of Emerald Lake
Drive in the Rainbow Forest subdivision
The victim's family was not home
at the time.
Authorities are investigating the

in a Lynchburg motel parking lot.
Around 3:30 this morning
authorities found Michael Blanchard
Jr., at the Super 8 Motel on Candlers
Mountain Road.
The 24-year-old was taken to
Lynchburg General Hospital where he
died.
Anyone with information about the
shooting should call Lynchburg
authorities.

weekend after a motorcycle accident in
Campbell County.
This happened early Saturday
morning on Greenhouse Road.
State Police say Patrick Bernard
ran off the right side and flew off his

Jessie Ault was held this afternoon at
Bowers Funeral Home in Pulaski.
Ault was buried in Dublin but was
originally from West Virginia.
The 28-year-old was killed by a
roadside bomb two weeks ago.
After serving one tour in Iraq--
he voluntarily returned in place of his
wife.
He leaves behind three children.

more than it did a month ago.

the United States, Pope Benedict the
16th went to Ground Zero...

The pontiff's motorcade drove
down the ramp at the former site of the
World Trade Center.
He walked down the last part of
the ramp, knelt and prayed in front of
a reflecting pool, while a lone cellist
played.
The Pope then lit a single white
memorial candle before addressing and
greeting victim's families and
survivors from the attacks.

The Salem Museum closed this
weekend to prepare for a major
construction project that's supposed to
begin later this Spring.
Once renovation on the historical
building is done, it'll be a lot larger
- adding about nine thousand square
feet to the facility.
The new space will be used for
new exhibits, offices, a catering
kitchen and gift shop.
The Museum is in Longwood Park.
No word on when it will reopen.

Roanoke.
Our weekend disturbance continues to
slowly jog to the southeast Monday,
providing a few showers in the
afternoon. Heavy rain and storms won't
be as commonplace as they were over the
weekend, however. Skies may turn partly
sunny in the afternoon, helping highs
return to the mid 60s.
Tuesday through Thursday are forecast

Lynchburg before hitting the Carolina
League road for a week.
