Buchanan are closed, because of an
accident last night.

Authorities say the wreck is
causing a three to four mile back-up in
the area.

Meanwhile...traffic patterns in
Franklin County will be a little
different over the next couple of
weeks.

VDOT plans to close a section
of Hardy Road about a mile north of
Route 122, while crews replace an
underground pipe.

Weather permitting, the work
should be done no later than May 2.

They're asking that drivers find
an alternate route around the area.

shot and killed in a motel parking lot
over the weekend.

Police found the victim, Michael
Blanchard Jr., at the Super 8 Motel on
Candlers Mountain Road around 3:30
yesterday morning.

The 24-year-old was taken to
Lynchburg General Hospital where he
died.

applications for concealed weapons
increased from 25 to 44 thousand in
2007.

John Markell teaches a concealed
handgun permit class at local gun shows
in Salem and Roanoke.

He believes the increased
interest may have to do with the
presidential elections.

has authorities investigating.

yesterday, fire investigators found a
woman's body.

They believe Melissa Rickman
lived in the home with her family.

They weren't home at the the
time.

The house is off of Emerald Lake

Firefighters arrived around 5:30
yesterday morning to find flames
pouring out.

is getting a makeover.

The Salem Museum closed this
weekend to prepare for a major
construction project that's supposed to
begin later this Spring.

Once renovation on the historic
building is done, it'll be a lot larger
- adding about nine thousand square
feet to the facility.

The new space will be used for
new exhibits, offices, a catering
kitchen and gift shop.

The Museum first built in 18-45
is located in Longwood Park.

No word on when it will re-open.

died this weekend after crashing his
motorcycle in Campbell County.

The accident happened Saturday on
Greenhouse Road.

State Police say Patrick Bernard
ran off the road and flew off his bike.

The 32-year-old died at the
scene.

laid him to rest over the weekend.

Staff Sergeant Jessie Ault was
buried in Dublin.

He was originally from West
Virginia.

The 28-year-old was killed by a
roadside bomb two weeks ago.

After serving one tour in Iraq--
Ault voluntarily returned in place of
his wife.

He leaves behind three children.

Tons of residents in Blacksburg
attended the community-wide picnic
yesterday.

It was a chance for students and
teachers to mingle with the rest of the
town.

historical landmark in Salem.

The Salem Museum closed this
weekend to prepare for a major
construction project that's supposed to
begin later this Spring.

Once renovation on the building
is done, it'll be a lot larger - adding
about nine thousand square feet to the
facility.

The new space will be used for
new exhibits, offices, a catering
kitchen and gift shop.

The Museum first built in 18-45
is located in Longwood Park.

No word on when it will reopen.
