The standoff actually BEGAN as a

When a deputy showed up, Rice
opened fire....that according to the

(END SOT) thinks of often.

She lives near the shores of
Normandy, France - the site of the
allied invasion on June 6th, 1944.

Seeing a recreation of that event
here in Bedford has been moving.

Allete Dugue: "All the time, we
are impressed. This is our forth visit
here, but it is not easy to express
what we feel."

Dugue and 26 of her neighbors are
here for a special visit.

Their home of St. Lo shares a
bond with Roanoke - not only are the
two sister cities - they're also are
linked by D-Day.

Madeleine Koziol: "It's very
important to us, and it's very
important for us to come here, to be
here today."

Tim Saunders: For the students on
this trip, this is a history lesson of
sorts. The adults say what they're
learning here, is something they could
never learn in the classroom.

Duval Hughes says he never
realized how many soldiers sacrificed
their lives for him to be here.

Thomas Gorrigues (gor-e-guess)
says the depiction of D-Day is helping
him understand how hard it was for
young soldiers.

"We always learn something more
after seeing things. It's more lively
and more realistic."

Standing under the overlord arch,
Dugue is moved to song.

The song is called "my Normandy."

A reminder that this is their
memorial too.

Hokies vs Highlanders It sure wasn't ideal conditions
on campus at Virginia Tech but some
fans did brave the elements.

They would see the Hokies break
on top in the Bottom of the second as
Matt Hacker will hit one to the
opposite field, Klint Reed will come
into score from second and give Tech a
1 to nothing lead.

The Highlanders would comeback in
the Top of the 4th. Nick Minter with a
great piece of 2-strike hitting as he
squirts one the other way through the
infield. Reggie Keen who led off with
a double will score to tie the game up.

Ben Toth would un-tie the game as
he gives one a ride to Right field this
one goes all the way to the wall. *CG final Radford 2 runs would come into score on the 4 play and Radford had a lead. They Virginia Tech couldn't hold it though, Hokies 5 comeback to get a 5 to 4 win.
