mstevens@wdbj7.com NASCAR's finest are headed to
Talladega this weekend and then the
month of May will be spent in
Charlotte, and so it shouldn't be a
surprise that Tony Stewart is starting
to stir the pot a bit tonight and get
things revved up for teh next couple of
weeks.

ESPN is reporting tonight that
Stewart is looking into the possibility
of leaving Joe Gibbs Racing when his
contract is up after next season or
maybe even before.

CHANNEL=A VO-NAT

This Season The report insists that Stewart

wants to own his own team and return to
driving Chevrolets and working with
General Motors.

One possible scenario has him
joining up with Haas/CNC racing and
driving either the 70 or 66 Chevys -
two cars that have been a bust so far
this season.

Gibbs Racing president J.D. Gibbs
responded tonight saying Tony has some
options, but he's under contract with
us through 2009.

Coppin State vs. VMI The Keydets wrapped up their two :00 game series with Coppin State -

possibly the worst team in all of
college baseball. The Eagles came into
today's contest with a 3 and 40 record.

The Keydets' left hander Jason
Farley was on the hill for VMI today
and he picked up his third win of the
season going five innings, giving up
just six hits and striking out four
batters - two in the first inning. *CG final Coppin State

4 The Keydets then got 13 runs off V.M.I. of Eagles' starter Jerry Matos. VMI is 13 now 21-and-20. The Keydets welcome
15th ranked Coastal Carolina to
Gray-Minor Stadium for a huge Big South
series on Friday night.

GRAPHIC=CHRIS LONG The word out Miami tonight is

that Chris Long - the big UVA defensive
lineman - was almost the number one
pick in the draft.

Dolphins' vice president Bill
Parcells was apparently on the verge of
taking the former Cavaliers' star when
it looked like the other Long in the

draft - Jake - wasn't going to come to
an agreement by yesterday - the
deadline Parcells' had set for the
player and his agent.

Yesterday But Jake Long, the big offensive
lineman from Michgan, and his agents
did meet that deadline and he was
formally introduced to the media
yesterday. Some believe Parcells, the
team's vice-president for football
operations was bluffing, but whatever
the case he got his man.

OQ=News 7 Sports. << Branden Albert checks in at 6-7
(END SOT) and over 3-hundred pounds. He fits the

bill when it comes to what N-F-L Teams
are looking for in an offensive

lineman.

Albert put all his skills on
display at U-V-A's Pro Day last month.
What the Scouts saw was impressive as
Albert has moved up Draft Boards with
some projections having him go as high
as the 5th overall Pick to Kansas City.

(ALBERT BITE:)

Albert played mostly Offensive
Guard for Al Groh at U-V-A but showed
last season that he can move outside as
well, starting 2 games at Tackle last
season.

(ALBERT BITE:)

Albert could have been a total
different position at the this point in
his life. He could have returned to
School for his senior year instead of
entering the Draft.

(ALBERT BITE:)

If taken with one of the first 31
picks, Albert would be the 5th U-V-A
Offensive Lineman selected in the First
Round of the N-F-L Draft. Grant
