driving accident on Interestate 77.
It happened around 4:30 near mile
marker 26 in Wythe County, that's about
two miles north of Poplar Camp.
State Police say the driver of a
subaru legacy was heading north,
crossed the median and struck a tractor
trailer southbound.
The tractor trailer then hit a driver
who was changing a tire on the
shoulder, killing him.
The driver who initially caused
the accident also died. State Police
believe he was drunk.

out foul play in the death of a Roanoke
teacher.
Melissa Rickman was found dead
Sunday morning after fire destroyed her
home in Botetourt County.

Investigators were back at the

released that help explain why they
want to merge.
Delta says it lost more
than 6.3 billion dollars in the first
quarter of this year.... Northwest is
reporting a 4 billion dollar loss.
Delta's blaming soaring
fuel prices and a drop in the company's
value.

He had rifles pointed at him, as
two suspects robbed the store.
Police are calling them serial
robbers...because this is the fourth
business they've hit so far in
California.
Because they're using these types
of weapons, police are fearful of what
else the robbers are capable of.

from the air.
A 24-year-old woman was airlifted
off a cliff in the Hollywood Hills area
as firefighters worked to rescue a man
stuck on the same cliff.
The woman was one of two people
rescued from Bronson Canyon, known as
the location of the Batcave from the
1960's television series "Batman.
The woman was in serious
condition and taken to an area
hospital.

Center. An area of high pressure will
replace the departing storm Wednesday
through Friday. This should bring
decreasing shower chances and partly
sunny skies. The return of sunshine
will boost highs to the mid 70s both
days. Saturday, a backdoor cold front
will stall out along the VA/MD border.
Showers and a few storms may develop
along the front, but should not be that
numerous. Highs stay put in the 70s.
We'll monitor this and keep you updated
throughout the week. The front will
stick around Sunday as well, with

Talladega this weekend and then the
month of May will be spent in
Charlotte, and so it shouldn't be a
surprise that Tony Stewart is starting
to stir the pot a bit tonight and get
things revved up for teh next couple of
weeks.
ESPN is reporting tonight that
Stewart is looking into the possibility
of leaving Joe Gibbs Racing when his
contract is up after next season or
maybe even before.

wants to own his own team and return to
driving Chevrolets and working with
General Motors.
One possible scenario has him
joining up with Haas/CNC racing and
driving either the 70 or 66 Chevys -
two cars that have been a bust so far

options, but he's under contract with
us through 2009.

that Chris Long - the big UVA defensive
lineman - was almost the number one
pick in the draft.
Dolphins' vice president Bill
Parcells was apparently on the verge of
taking the former Cavaliers' star when
it looked like the other Long in the
draft - Jake - wasn't going to come to
an agreement by yesterday - the
deadline Parcells' had set for the
player and his agent.

did meet that deadline and he was
formally introduced to the media
yesterday. Some believe Parcells, the

Therapy Team have been visiting every
Wednesday for the last three weeks.
