(END SOT) Lynchburg's Regional Airport, and

you'll see plenty of traffic coming in.

But the people behind Liberty
University's aviation program want to
see even more planes landing here.

Dave Young: "We see Lynchburg
airport and all the resources we have
available here as offering an
opportunity."

Young wants to use his program to
turn the airport into a regional hub
for everything from cargo planes to
recreational flights and air shows.

Ernie Rogers: "We're going to be
somewhat of a unique organization
within central Virginia that's going to
attract all of general aviation to come
here."

To do that, they're planning a
major expansion of Liberty's aviation
program.

Transforming it into a school of
aeronautics, and adding more than 150
students for programs that include
helicopter training and air traffic
control.

"That will all be an economic
boom, not only to the airport, but to
the vendors and the industry that
supports the airport."

The aviation industry's been on a
downturn the last few years, but here
at Liberty, they're expecting demand to
pick up for things like pilots and
mechanics. And that's why they're
trying to get more students in the
cockpit.

"There are a lot of opportunities
for graduates of those programs to go
out into the workforce and so we see us
being able to meet that demand."

And once those extra planes start

landing in Lynchburg.

"We'll have people in town who
are going to go to restaurants, stay in
hotels, that will help in the general
economy of Lynchburg." and help local
business take off.

Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast

with partly cloudy skies and lows in
the mid 50s. Maybe you'll sleep with
the windows open to enjoy the fresh

a few afternoon clouds as temperatures
warm back into the 70s. There's a

chance of a few afternoon showers -
mainly after 2pm. Lows Friday night
will be near 60.

The weekend should offer variably
cloudy skies and shower chances as a
cold front approaches. Don't expect a

chances of rain this weekend, with
Saturday looking slightly wetter than
Sunday. Highs are forecast in the low

Bruins vs. Titans Titans' senior Mikey O'Brien :00 pitched 6 scoreless no-hit innings. He
had yet to give up a run this season -
keeping his earned run average at a
ridiculous 0 point 0-0.

He got plenty of run support as
he helps his own cause with a shot
through the shortstop's legs. That's
enough to score Brett Mollenhauer to
make it 1-to-nothing Titans in the
first.

The Titans got another one in the
bottom of the second as junior second

baseman Scott Stilwell rips one deep
over the left field fence. The solo
shot make it 2-to-nothing.

Hidden Valley got four more runs
- this one in the third on Joe
Greenway's single to right as they
eventually led 6-to-nothing in the
seventh. *CG final Blacksburg

3 O'Brien would finally give up his Hidden Valley first runs of the season in the 6 seventh, but until then he was
unhittable as the Titans win it 6-to-3
over Blacksburg.
