occurred on Smith Mountain Lake near
marker B11 around 7:30 Wednesday night.
We're told divers recovered the
body of 71-year-old James Millard
Hankla of Union Hall.

Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

<< Good evening, I'm meteorologist
Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. A pleasant night is on tap,
with partly cloudy skies and lows in
the mid 50s. Maybe you'll sleep with
the windows open to enjoy the fresh
spring air?? Friday starts sunny with
a few afternoon clouds as temperatures
warm back into the 70s. There's a
chance of a few afternoon showers -
mainly after 2pm. Lows Friday night
will be near 60.
The weekend should offer variably
cloudy skies and shower chances as a
cold front approaches. Don't expect a
washout, but there are certainly
chances of rain this weekend, with
Saturday looking slightly wetter than
Sunday. Highs are forecast in the low
and mid 70s this weekend.

Forecast. flowers begin their annual display of
(END SOT) color. While they may be bright, the
Spring's bloom may not SMELL so sweet
anymore.
A new study at the University of
Virginia suggests air pollution from
power plants and automobiles is
destroying the fragrance of flowers.
(STANDUP) Flowers produce volatile
scent molecules that bond with
pollutants such as ground-level ozone,
in the process it breaks down the
plants' sweet smell.
With more pollution in the air, the
scent molecules don't remain as

THE DISTANCE THAT THOSE MOLECULES WOULD

This could partially explain why wild
populations of some pollinators,
particularly bees and butterflies are
declining in several areas of the
world.

was jackhammered out of the foundation
at the new Yankee stadium earlier this
month has found a good home and rasied
some cash in the process.

The jersey was secretly buried by
a Bronx construction worker who is a
Sox fan in an attempt to "curse" the
Yankees.
Instead it was auctioned off and
sold for $175 thousand 100 at an
auction.
All of the proceeds benefit the
Jimmy Fund - which has been fighting
cancer in the kids and adults in the
Boston area since 1948.
