convenience store on Campbell Avenue
last night.
The clerk at that store was shot,
and investigators have been searching
all night for suspects.

of last night's robbery.
We're told no one was inside the
house and no arrests were made.

avenues.
The clerk as you mentioned was
shot and taken to Lynchburg General -
we're still waiting to learn his
condition.

victim, not long after the robbery

basketball coach, and it's a familiar
face.

Troy Wells is leaving the school after
28 years to take over the Titans
program.
Wells spent the last 14 seasons
as the Bulldogs head coach, following a
successful run as an assistant to the
legendary Husky Hall.
Wells led Martinsville to 3
state titles, 9 Piedmont District
Championships, and 7 regional crowns.
Since joining the program in
1979, he's been a part of 17 state
tournaments and 13 Final Fours.
The Bulldogs have appeared
in the Group AA tournament in 9 of the
past 12 years.
He succeeds Chris Morris
at Hidden Valley. Morris is the
school's new athletic director.
Wells is the father of
WDBJ's weekend sports anchor Travis
Wells.
He says his decision to leave
Martinsville wasn't an easy one.

Tech shooter one of his guns was on
campus last night.
Eric Thompson came to the school as
part of a campaign pushing for
concealed weapons on college campuses.

Only about fifty people showed up and
it was mainly a friendly crowd.
Eric Thompson spoke for about a half
hour and he told the crowd he was
shocked and saddened that Cho bought
one of the guns through his website.
Thompson says he came to Virginia
Tech to help people protect themselves,
and hopefully provide the tools to
prevent another tragedy.

Christie says he believes the sea
snake might have drifted to New Zealand
waters, because it got too cold.
It's part of the cobra family, and
is 10- times more venomous than any
land snake.
The snake will stay in captivity for
the next few months until it regains
its strength and is released back into
the wild.

for Lynchburg's Regional Airport.

The aviation program at Liberty
University is growing to become one of
the largest flight schools in the
nation.
They plan to add more than 150
students for classes on engineering and
air traffic control.
Training for pilots and mechanics
will also see an increase.
The expansion will bring more
traffic to Lynchburg runways.
Liberty professors hope that will
turn the airport into a regional hub
for general aviation.

boys' basketball coach is Adam Gray.
He takes over for Rick Crotts,
who stepped down after this past season
after coaching the Highlanders since
1999.
Gray was the William Byrd J-V
coach this past season, and also served
as one of Dave Culicerto's varsity
assistants. He is a Northside and
Virginia Tech grad.
Gray's appointment was made
official at the Roanoke County school
board meeting.

to U-V-A Wise.
The Colonels had a third player
sign to play at the school in Southwest
Virginia.

Fleming yesterday.
Trent, who played both Wide

was jackhammered out of the foundation
at the new Yankee stadium earlier this
month has found a good home.

The jersey was secretly buried by
a Bronx construction worker who is a
Sox fan in an attempt to "curse" the
Yankees.
The David Ortiz jersey was
recovered and instead of throwing it
away - it was auctioned off for $175
thousand 100. All of the proceeds
benefit the Jimmy Fund - which has been
fighting cancer in kids and adults in
the Boston area since 1948.
