drove straight through the window.

last night.
Fortunately no one was hurt.
Customers were able to jump to
the otherside of the restaurant in
time.
Vinton Police say the driver Neal
Collier was charged with driving while

The passenger in the car went to
the hospital.

County girls who were murdered last
summer.

A friend of the family tells News
7 the girls grew up playing softball at
Linden Park.
Police say their father Edward
Sims shot them while they were asleep
and then killed himself in August.

area rot and decay and are eventually
demolished.
Many of the the people who owned
the houses are elderly, disabled or
simply didn't have the money to take
care of them.

complete strangers putting in a hard
days' work to fix up her home.

is hoping to stop a private company
from demolishing Dan River's Long Mill.

The fate of the property will be
sealed Monday when a judge is expected
to rule whether it can be torn down.
The Danville Historical Society
has asked for an injunction against the
move.
Dan River Incorporated handed
over the deed to the property to the
group almost 10 years ago, but said
that no more than 25 percent of the
building could be destroyed.
The deed has changed hands and
city officials condemned the building
last summer.
City officials would not comment
on the latest issue.

that Bob Lee says he and his co-workers
aren't venting about the unpredictable
gas prices.
So he parked his car and rode to
work on his horse trying to make a
statement.
Lee admits he's only one man but
being that he rode the horse during
rush hour in Charleston this week, he'd
like to think he'd inspired a few
drivers.

Coast right before the clock struck
midnight.

reports the earthquake measured four
point seven on the Richter scale.

miles west of Reno near Mogul.
This was just one of many quakes
that have rattled the area in the past
week.

homes and buildings.

apartment building in
Connecticut....leaving at least 150
people homeless.

were shooting through one of the
three-story units.
Minutes later, the entire
building was on fire.
A local school was used as an
emergency shelter. Firefighters
had to lay three miles of hose to pump
out enough water.

thunderstorms this evening.
Evening showers will taper off, leading
to mainly clear to partly cloudy skies
Saturday night. Lows in the low and mid
50s. Patchy fog is possible.
While Sunday starts dry, there will be
a chance of showers moving up from the
south during the afternoon. Highs are
forecast in the mid 70s. A good soaking
rain is expected Sunday night as a
stronger cold front approaches.
That front will do a number on our
temperatures! Highs Monday are slated
in the low to mid 60s. Showers are
likely Monday. By Monday night, most of
the rain exits with clearing skies.
Temperatures will cool to near 40.
Highs Tuesday (under partly sunny
skies) are expected in the 50s and low
60s. Tuesday night lows will tank to
the 30s. Patchy frost will possible
Tuesday night - unless we're fortunate
enough to see some clouds, which would
help keep temperatures higher

Ride hit the road today.

Two- hundred motorcyclists from
around the Roanoke Valley road to
Blacksburg.
They're raising money for the
victims who survived the April 16th
shootings.
Last year the group raised four
thousand dollars.
An organizer says they will ride
like this on the last Saturday in April
every year.

Today, Virginia's Chris Long
became just the 5th player to be
drafted following in the footsteps of a
Hall of Fame Father.
Howie Long played for the
Raiders.

VO-NAT Today, Chris was the 2nd overall
pick in the first round of the St.
Louis Rams. The defensive end is the
2nd highest selection of a Virginia
player, second only to Bullet Bill
Dudley who went number one.
Long is known for his non stop
motor. He recorded 187 career tackles
at Virginia, including 22 sacks. He
also forced three fumbles and had an
interception.

home with his family in Maryland. He
didn't even play football until his
junior year in high school. Albert
started every game he played in for the
Cavaliers and was a co captain as a

just one sack his sophomore season.

locked up with North Carolina in a key
weekend series in Blacksburg. The
Hokies needed to win all three games to
clinch the ACC's regular season title
and the top seed in the conference
tournament.

Tech was up 1-nothing and Angela
Tincher was getting some defensive help
from Misty Hall who lays out and makes
the great diving grab in short left
field.
The Hokies made it 2-nothing in
the 5th when Kelsey Hoffman hits a shot
into left. Charisse Mariconda rounded
third and raced for home and Tech
seemed to be in good shape.
But the Heels got two unearned
runs off of Tincher in the 6th to tie
things up and the game went to extra
innings.
Tincher pitched a complete
game and the Hokies won it 5 to 2
thanks to a 3 run homer in the tenth.

tournament will celebrate 25 years next
month at the Roanoke Country Club. 80
boys and girls from 9 different states
teed it up today at the club in an
effort to make the field for the
prestigious event.

after four spots in the 14 and under
division, while 7 girls competed for 2
