Virginia is in a state of
emergency.....Governor Tim Kaine made
the declaration for areas damaged by at
least three tornadoes.
Suffolk took the brunt of the
storms -- Rescue crews initially
thought that one person died there, but
the police department says the death
was NOT related to the tornado.

As Jenn said, this isn't the
first time the Colonial Heights area
has been hit by a big storm.
Back in 19-93, a tornado touched
down, causing millions of dollars in
damage -- at least three people died in
that storm.
The twister tore right down the
middle of a Wal-Mart, forcing crews to
condemn the building, and putting about
400 workers in the unemployment line.

August 1993 Petersburg -- tearing up 120 historic
buildings in the old part of town.

since a Roanoke County attorney was
killed while jogging.

Farrell on the early morning of January
28th.
It happened on Springlawn Avenue
not far from Cave Spring Middle School.
Neighbors have been complaining
for years about the traffic volume and
the speed of some drivers.
As Justin McLeod discovered, road
improvements are set to begin although
it's taking longer than expected.

Roanoke are trying to find the robber.

Raleigh Court area of Roanoke this
afternoon.

on Roanoke Avenue hit a natural gas
line near the intersection of Memorial
Avenue.
Emergency crews say it was
a substantial leak, but since there are
no homes nearby, they let the gas
dissipate and no homes were evacuated.
Several streets nearby were

Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. April showers have definitely
been abundant this month. All major
cities are reporting positive rain
totals for the April. An upper level
disturbance will push the cold front
through, then lift to the northeast
Tuesday. This will usher in cooler
afternoon temperatures along with a
gusty NW wind Tuesday. Steadier
showers continue to taper off in the
east this evening, but don't be
surprised to see a sprinkle or two
tonight through Tuesday morning.
Overall, Tuesday will be mostly cloudy
and breezy as high pressure moves in
from the west. Northwest winds will
gust up to 30mph at times. Afternoon
highs will only reach the upper 50s.
Some snow flurries are even possible in
the higher elevations. After a chilly
start Wednesday morning, a strong ridge
of high pressure will bring a return of
progressively warmer afternoon weather
from mid-week on. Highs by Friday will
approach 80 with abundant sunshine. A
cold front will bring a chance of
showers back to the area early in the
weekend. MONDAY NIGHT: Cloudy,

Kinston - tonight the Indians returned
the favor and rolled into the Roanoke
Valley to open up a three game series.

today marked the start of the free
agent signing period.
Robbie Powell, a former Cave
Spring star, who finished at Purdue was
signed a free agent today by the
Cleveland Browns.

today by the St. Louis Rams. Hall is a
former all-ACC first team pick, who
will make an impact and the team if he
says healthy.
His former Tech teammate Josh

year's Hokies' roster will be in NFL
camps.
Another Hokie - Amherst County
product Barry Booker signed a free

Dolphins where he'll try to impress

someone would talk about steroids
tonight.
That's because the New York Daily
News is reporting that Clemens and
country music star Mindy McCready have
had a relationship that began when she
was only 15 years old.
The paper also claims that
Clemens sent McCready cash when she was
jailed last year after allegedly
hitting her mother. Clemens' attorney
confirms the relatoinship but says it
is "not sexual" in nature.

annual Roanoke Civitan Club's
Sportsmanship award. The award is
voted on by the Western Virginia
Basketball Officials Association and
their President Roger Ayres was in
attendance to hand out the trophy Head
Coach Mike McGuire.
Winning is always the goal for
any team, but winning with class is
something that the Titans have tried to
make a must.

Dawkins was an all-American

The fundraiser in Martinsville
brought in more than 10 thousand
dollars for the American Cancer
Society.
