As much as the Obama campaign might
want him to....the reverend Jeremiah
Wright is hardly shunning the
spotlight.
(NATSOT WRIGHT): "I'M NOT TIRED YET!"
At a N-A-A-C-P dinner last night, the
controversial pastor told the crowd
critics get it wrong when they call him
divisive.
(SOT REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT): "THE
WORD IS DESCRIPTIVE. I DESCRIBE THE
CONDITIONS IN THIS COUNTRY. CONDITIONS
DIVIDE - NOT MY DESCRIPTION. SOMEBODY
SAY A-MEN."
The Reverend Wright debate is just one
component of a racial divide that -
real or imagined - threatens serious
damage to a democratic party in need of
healing.
It's a rift seen clearly in
Pennsylvania exit polls. White voters
backed
Hillary Clinton 63 to 37-percent while
Obama won nine of every ten black
votes.
(nats)
The worry for democrats is this string
of race-based controversies will hurt
Obama among white voters and Clinton
among black voters....and help hand
John
McCain the keys to the White House.
But Barack Obama believes it's only a
matter of time before the party comes
together.
(SOT SEN. BARACK OBAMA courtesy 'Fox
News Sunday'): "WHOEVER IS THE NOMINEE
-
I THINK THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY WILL SAY
'LOOK, WE'VE GOT A BIG FIGHT AHEAD OF
US IN NOVEMBER, AND WE ARE GONNA BE
UNIFED TO TAKE THE COUNTRY IN A
DIFFERENT
DIRECTION.'"
Hillary Clinton hasn't had much to say
lately about race or Reverend Wright.
Instead she continues to press for more
debates, hoping to capitalize on her
Pennsylvania success.
(SOT SEN. HILLARY CLINTON): "WE COULD
DO IT ON THE BACK OF A FLATBED TRUCK.
IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO BE IN SOME
FANCY STUDIO SOMEWHERE!"
(oncam)
Reverend Wright will have more to say
this morning when he addresses the
National Press Club.

As much as the Obama campaign might

(NATSOT WRIGHT): "I'M NOT TIRED YET!"
At a N-A-A-C-P dinner last night, the
controversial pastor told the crowd
critics get it wrong when they call him
divisive.
(SOT REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT): "THE
WORD IS DESCRIPTIVE. I DESCRIBE THE
CONDITIONS IN THIS COUNTRY. CONDITIONS
DIVIDE - NOT MY DESCRIPTION. SOMEBODY
SAY A-MEN."
The Reverend Wright debate is just one
component of a racial divide that -
real or imagined - threatens serious
damage to a democratic party in need of
healing.
It's a rift seen clearly in
Pennsylvania exit polls. White voters
backed
Hillary Clinton 63 to 37-percent while
Obama won nine of every ten black
votes.
(nats)
The worry for democrats is this string
of race-based controversies will hurt
Obama among white voters and Clinton
among black voters....and help hand
John
McCain the keys to the White House.
But Barack Obama believes it's only a
matter of time before the party comes
together.
(SOT SEN. BARACK OBAMA courtesy 'Fox
News Sunday'): "WHOEVER IS THE NOMINEE
-
I THINK THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY WILL SAY
'LOOK, WE'VE GOT A BIG FIGHT AHEAD OF
US IN NOVEMBER, AND WE ARE GONNA BE
UNIFED TO TAKE THE COUNTRY IN A
DIFFERENT
DIRECTION.'"
Hillary Clinton hasn't had much to say
lately about race or Reverend Wright.
Instead she continues to press for more
debates, hoping to capitalize on her
Pennsylvania success.
(SOT SEN. HILLARY CLINTON): "WE COULD
DO IT ON THE BACK OF A FLATBED TRUCK.
IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO BE IN SOME
FANCY STUDIO SOMEWHERE!"
(oncam)
Reverend Wright will have more to say
this morning when he addresses the
National Press Club.
