He's currently being held in the
Roanoke County/Salem Jail, charged with

when he heard the shots.
Police say there was some sort of
altercation before the shooting.

police arrested a man on Route 11 on
top of Christiansburg mountain.
Witnesses say the driver of this
black jeep pulled over on the side of
the road and was standing there holding
a gun.
He was taken into custody without
incident.
Back here at the scene, investigators
spent nearly three hours processing
evidence before removing the body.
Onlookers can't believe this happened
right outside a grocery store.

THIS is the tornado that tore
through Suffolk -- leaving behind a
huge path of destruction.
The severe storm left a damage
path 25 miles long. More than one
hundred homes were destroyed along with
dozens of businesses.
Six tornadoes touched down
yesterday -- wreaking havoc across
parts of Southern Virginia -- although
there are NO deaths blamed on the
storms, at least 200 people were hurt,
six of them critically.
Governor Tim Kaine toured the
destruction -- and promised help from
the state.

That frees up state resources for
those hit hardest by the storms.
He also plans to ask for federal

People are also cleaning up in
Halifax County, where a small, but
powerful storm left a trail of damage.
The National Weather Service says
an EF-1 tornado hit the town of
Virgilina (Vur-ga-line-uh) Monday
afternoon.
The storm produced winds between
86 and 109 miles-per-hour, and a cloud
240 yards wide.
Six homes were damaged, including
Mary Helen Gravitt's.
Her son-in law was visiting when
he saw the storm coming and rushed her
to safety.

Governor Tim Kaine says opponents
of a gas-tax increase should remember

A pair of scantily clad ladies
raised some eyebrows along Timberlake
Road in Lynchburg today...
These women are with People for
the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Wearing nothing but
"strategically placed lettuce," the
women handed out mock-turkey sandwiches
and cards for free gas.
Their goal was to let people know
that eating meat is more harmful to the
environment than driving an S-U-V.
Aside from attracting some police
attention, PETA says the demonstration
went off without any trouble.

Center. A cool area of high pressure
will build in over top of us tonight.
This will help diminish the winds and
clear skies out. It will also allow
temperatures to plummet into the low
30s. This will be cold enough for
patchy frost in the deeper valley
locations. A Frost Advisory and Freeze
Warning have been issued for some.
After a cold start Wednesday, the same
high pressure ridge will move off to
the east. This will deliver more of a
southerly, warmer wind over the next
several days. Highs should climb back
into the 60s Wednesday with lows in the
40s. With warm air advection at a
premium, afternoon highs will reach the
70s Thursday and near 80 Friday before
a cold front knocks them back down by
the weekend. Speaking of the weekend,
a few showers (40%) are possible each
day from Saturday and Sunday. It
doesn't look like a washout. TUESDAY

diamond.

Matt Roan who played for coach
Joel Hicks at Pulaski County has signed
as a free agent center with the
Minnesota Vikings.
Roan left Pulaski and spent a
year at Hargrave under

number 89, gained 23 pounds and
increased his bench press by 65 pounds.
He walked on at Virginia Tech,
but left for Southern Utah University.
He went from being a tight end -
to a 290 pound center for the

Musselman has accepted an
invitation to walk-on as a wideout at
New Mexico. The Lobos are a division

Musselman, who also starred on
the Titans' basketball team - visited
the campus earlier this month during
the Lobos' spring game and plans to
redshirt his freshman season.

So many people went to see them
in London that the museum was kept open
for 24 hours a day at times.
Hidden underground for two
millennia, the Terracotta Warriors were
buried with the emperor -- and are a
representation of his Army.
No two statues are alike.
Each of them has a different
facial expression and hair style.
Craftsmen are believed to have
modeled them after a real army.
