yesterday.

in the storms that spread across the
southeastern part of the state.
A search of the rubble today
confimred no one was killed in the
storms.
It was Suffolk that took the
hardest pounding.
City inspectors have condemned
more than 140 homes there, and many
residents are being kept away from
their property.
This afternoon Governor Tim Kaine
toured the damaged areas and met with
local residents.
Kaine has declared a state of
emergency,

The National Weather Service now
confirms a Tornado hit the community of
Virgilina in southern Halifax county
Monday.
The storm lasted five minutes and
carried winds between 86 and 109 miles
an hour.
No one was injured, but six homes
were damaged.
Mary Helen Gravitt's roof was
blown off, along with her entire front
porch.
Gravitt was in her basement with
family when the storm came through.

<< Good evening, I'm meteorologist
Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. A cool area of high pressure
will build in over top of us tonight.
This will help diminish the winds and
clear skies out. It will also allow
temperatures to plummet into the low
30s. This will be cold enough for
patchy frost in the deeper valley
locations. A Frost Advisory and Freeze
Warning have been issued for some.
After a cold start Wednesday, the same
high pressure ridge will move off to
the east. This will deliver more of a
southerly, warmer wind over the next
several days. Highs should climb back
into the 60s Wednesday with lows in the
40s. With warm air advection at a
premium, afternoon highs will reach the
70s Thursday and near 80 Friday before
a cold front knocks them back down by
the weekend. Speaking of the weekend,
a few showers (40%) are possible each
day from Saturday and Sunday. It
doesn't look like a washout. TUESDAY

welcome to Tuesday ticker. We get
started tonight with some news from
Charlotte where the Queen City is
ghearing up for its annual month of May
racing extranaganza.

This afternoon the folks at the
Lowe's Motor Speedway announced that
they will be adding Lowe's Motor
Speedway crews will install 340 feet of
additional SAFER barriers along the
track's inside backstretch retaining
wall prior to the May 17 NASCAR Sprint
All-Star Race and the May 25 Coca-Cola
600.
Track officials also announced
that the purse for the Coke 600 on
Memorial Day weekend will be nearly $7
million dollars.
In all - Charlotte will pass out
nearly $15 million in prize money in
the month of May.

Extra star has landed a tryout in the
NFL.
Matt Roan who played for coach
Joel Hicks at Pulaski County has signed
as a free agent center with the
Minnesota Vikings.
Roan left Pulaski and spent a
year at Hargrave under

number 89, gained 23 pounds and
increased his bench press by 65 pounds.
He walked on at Virginia Tech,
but left for Southern Utah University.
He went from being a tight end -
to a 290 pound center for the
Thunderbirds.

Musselman has accepted an
invitation to walk-on as a wideout at
New Mexico. The Lobos are a division

season in the Mountain West Conference.
Musselman, who also starred on
the Titans' basketball team - visited
the campus earlier this month during
the Lobos' spring game and plans to
redshirt his freshman season.
New Mexico is the alma mater of

you see Bud disappeared a week ago
and after searching and searching no
sign of Bud.. that is until.. Saturday
morning Linda Grudi (groo-dye) heard a
faint meow as she was gardening.. but
had no idea WHERE it was coming from.
A plumber came out and with a fiber
optic camera look what he found.. Bud
in a 6 inch drain pipe starring back..
It took some digging and sawing.. but
Bud was freed-- doing find just a bit
thinner after four days without food.
