rip through a wood-framed house in
Rocky Mount.

The fire started around 1:30 this
afternoon on Foggy Ridge Road.
A man who happened to be working
across the street spotted the smoke and
called 9-1-1, but firefighters could
not save the two-story home.
Authorities say at least four
people lived here, but they weren't
home.
The cause is still under
investigation.

Salem The suspect Bryan Sheppard is
going through a divorce.
And according to investigators
James Fleshman was dating Sheppard's
estranged wife.

This was the scene yesterday--
just after the shooting in the parking
lot of Food Lion on Wildwood Road in
Salem.
A witness says Sheppard walked up
to Fleshman and shot him at least a
dozen times.
Fleshman was pronounced dead at
the scene.
Today News7 went to Fleshman's
home in Roanoke- where we spoke to
Fleshman's ex wife.
She says their three children are
devestated about their father's death.
James Fleshman worked for Pepsi
for the last seven years-- and was at
the Food Lion store on business when he
was shot.
The Pepsi company is bringing in
grief counselors tomorrow to talk with
Fleshman's co-workers.

during the first quarter. While that's
just a small increase, it's still
better than expected.
The growth shows that the economy is
in a rut, but it is NOT in recession.
In an effort to spur things even
more, the Federal Reserve cut interest
rates by a quarter point.
It is the seventh cut in short term
rates in eight months.
But analysts say it will be the
last cut we'll see for a while.

Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. Clear skies will prevail
Wednesday evening and overnight.
Overall, it will be pleasant with light
wind and temperatures that won't be as
cold as last night. Lows are forecast
in the low to mid 40s. High pressure
will dominate the late week forecast.
Expect plenty of sunshine Thursday and
Friday with just a few passing clouds
as a warm front lifts to our north.
With the front north of us, we'll be in
the warm sector of air; and with
southerly breezes, expect temperatures
to respond! Highs Thursday are
forecast in the mid 70s - with low 80s
by Friday. Our next chance of rain
arrives this weekend. Models are
indicating a cold front pushing across
Virginia late Saturday into Sunday.
This may mean showers and a chance of
thunderstorms, but it doesn't look like
an event that will make us soggy all
weekend. The current thinking is that
Saturday will start dry, and likely
stay that way until sometime in the mid
afternoon. Then expect scattered
showers and storms as the front
presses to the east Saturday night,
showers will come to an end. If there's
a stray shower early Sunday, it will
leave, making way for increasing
sunshine for the rest of the day.
Temperatures won't be sharply affected
by the boundary. Highs Saturday are
forecast around the mid 70s. Lower 70s
are slated Sunday. The first two or
three days of next week look partly
sunny, with highs near 70. WEDNESDAY
NIGHT: Mostly clear. Not as cool. Low:
44 THURSDAY: Sunny. Warm breezes.

against East Carolina.

her career, she is only the 3rd player
in N-C-A-A history to reach that
milestone.
The Hokies will now turn their
attention to the post-season. Tech
will look to defend their A-C-C
Tournament crown when they travel to

The Hokies who are ranked in the
Top 25, will most likely have to go
through North Carolina at the
Conference Tournament for the Title, a
team that took 2 of three from the
Hokies this past weekend but things
seem to be back on track for Tincher

contestant Jason Castro a critique of
his two songs. The only problem was
Castro had only sung once. His second
song was scheduled for later in the
show.
Abdul says she got confused when she
wrote notes on two singers on Castro's
card.
Now fans are wondering if this proves
the judges' comments are written in
advance.
