The double suicide bombing that killed
dozens in a wedding procession -- is
the work of al-Qaeda.
That's what the US military is
saying... As Iraqi families mourn the
dead.
(NAT) - MOURNER CRYING
in what's now turning into a trend,
Officials say -- the first bomber was a
=woman=, pretending to be pregnant.
She blew herself up while people were
dancing and clapping as the wedding
party passed. A male suicide bomber
struck a short time later -- as
ambulances arrived.
(NAT) - AFTERMATH
In all, more than 30-people died in
this town northeast of Baghdad. At
least
65-were injured, including The bride
and groom.
Thursday's attack comes as officials
sound the alarm that al-Qaeda is
regrouping, despite recent security
gains by U-S forces. The sunni
terrorist
network announced April 19th that it
was launching a month-long offensive
against U-S troops, and Sunnis who have
allied with Americans.

NEWS / WHITE HOUSE) - "on the shiite
side
of the conflict, the White House is
watching closely as an Iraqi delegation
visits Iran. Members are going to ask
Iranian leaders to stop arming Shi'ite

Baghdad's Sadr City."
Violent clashes have gripped that
neighborhood for more than a month --
after
the Iraqi government cracked down on
militia members living there.

hail, no injuries have been reported
there so far.

force winds, hail and heavy rain left
hundreds of homes and businesses
damaged-- and some are destroyed.
An 18- wheeler wasn't big enough to

hours of Friday morning.
The landslide which was 150 ft wide and
900 ft long, damaged several houses and
blocked a major highway.
The police evacuated around 150
persons, because they fear more
landslides in the area,
Heavy rains and melting snow in the
mountains above the village are
believed to have set off the landslide.
Miraculously, no injuries have been
reported.

County will consider whether a fly ash
project there is a public nuisance.

Fly ash is what's left after coal
is burned to make electricity.
It's being hauled in from the
Appalachian Power Plant in Glen Lyn.
The citizens against it want the
court to halt work on seven acres along
the New River.
The organization behind the fly
ash project - the Giles County
Partnership - says the site has been
regularly inspected by the Department
of Enviromental Quality -- and so far
no problems or violations have been
discovered.

It's mission is to provide
affordable childcare and early
childhood education for low income
working families.
The school has been raising money
to replace their 20 year old bus with a
newer, gently used bus.
To help raise funds they've
organized a penny-pitch for tomorrow's
Chili Cookoff in downtown Roanoke.

The school serves nearly 300
children, ages 3-through-12.
The bus is used primarily to
transport students to-and-from their
public city schools in the morning and
afternoons.
In some cases, the bus goes out
and picks up select children from their
homes in cases where the parents do not
have a vehicle.
That helps make the childcare
affordable and accessible.

coach at West Virginia, was back in the
Roanoke Valley last night, serving as
the keynote speaker for the annual
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
banquet.
Stewart is living proof that
"Life comes at you Fast."
In a month's time, he went from
being an assistant coach, to an interim
head coach, to the full- blown bossman
at WVU

football and life than most can only
wish for in their daily lives.
Still he wasn't sure the
opportunity to coach on college

his way when he left VMI in 1996 with
three times as many losses and wins.

Stewart only had three weeks to get his
staff together. His Virginia recruitor
is already paying big dividends.
