run in Roanoke and the driver is still
on the loose.

It happened Friday night at the
intersection of Williamson Road and
Sycamore Avenue.

Roanoke City Police say the
driver struck a man while he was
walking on Williamson.

The victim was taken to the
hospital where he later died.

People who live and work in this
area say pedestrian traffic is as
common as the traffic on the road.

crash in Campbell County.

State police say the accident
happened around 6:30 yesterday morning
on Route 460, near Route 24 in Concord.

James Holmes, a 16-year-old from

Appomattox died at the scene.

He was the passenger in the car -
which ran off the road and slammed into
a tree.

There is no word on the condition
of the driver.

be laid to rest this afternoon.

VO-NAT Officer Will Branham died this

week after a short battle with cancer.

His funeral will be at Whitten's
Funeral Home on South Amherst Highway.

Because space is limited...the
Lynchburg Police Department is asking
non-family members to pay their respect
by lining the sidewalks on Court Street
between 5th and 12th.

Or by standing in the parking
lots along South Amherst Highway
between Seminole and Whitten's Funeral
Home.

This will be the route for the
funeral procession.

The procession will happen

sometime between 12:30 and 1:15 this
afternoon.

The most popular undergraduate
degrees were interdisciplinary studies,
management and marketing.

As for graduate degrees -
counseling and psychology were tops.

Best-selling author John

been much less effective than usual.

People who were vaccinated were
44-percent less likely to get
sick...The typical rate is 70-percent
or higher.

Scientists are already working on next
year's batch of vaccines.

People know they shouldn't share
prescription medications, but they do
it anyway.

A new study's found roughly 1 in 4
either borrow or lend medicine ranging
from commonplace allergy pills to
hard-core pain meds.

Researchers expected to find some
sharing, but they didn't expect it to
be quite so widespread.

Fewer U-S teens are getting
pregnant...The latest data also shows
more women are keeping their babies,
even if they're not married...and

that the typical unwed mother is no
longer a teenager but in fact an older
woman.

but that's exactly what happened just
before 11 on Friday night. Roanoke
Police say a driver struck a man while
he was walking on Williamson.

He was taken to the hospital where he
later died.

BECAUSE OF THE PROXIMITY OF SHOPS IN
THIS AREA MANY PEOPLE ARE ON FOOT.

Kenton Jones says the area needs more
police.

THIS IS AN INNER CITY ROAD AND THEIR
DEFINITELY NOT TRAVELING 25 OR 30 MILES
AN HOUR, I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE POLICE
INTERVENTION ESPECIALLY IN THIS AREA--
JUST TO MONITOR TRAFFIC PATTERNS.

Residents who live and work in this
area say pedestrian traffic is just as
common as car traffic-- so they're not
surprised this happenend.

crash in Campbell County.

State police say the accident
happened around 6:30 yesterday morning
on Route 460, near Route 24 in Concord.

James Holmes, a 16-year-old from
Appomattox died at the scene.

He was the passenger in the car -
which ran off the road and slammed into
a tree.

There is no word on the condition
of the driver.

FLIGHT 93 MEMORIAL FOR THOSE WHO LOST
THEIR LIVES IN THE PLANE CRASH IN
SOMERSET COUNTY. THE OPPOSITION SAID
THE SET-UP OF THE MEMORIAL IS TOO
SIMILAR TO AN ISLAMIC CRESCENT, WHICH
THEY SAID THEY FIND AS A SLAP IN THE
FACE TO THE PASSENGERS WHO DIED.

What you do is show you that you are
not just one or two kooks out there.
There are thousands and thousands of
people who agree with the same things
you do -- make changes to the national
memorial,

DISCUSSING THE FATEFUL DAY BROUGHT BACK
A LOT OF MEMORIES FOR SOME. MANY WHO
LOST LOVED ONES IN THE CRASH SAID

I would not support any design that
would support Muslims or anything of

to honor my husband's memory. I'm in

anybody else the land speaks for
