There's no fire, but you wouldn't know
it by the way the Democratic Candidates

raced through Indiana and North
Carolina Monday. (nat pop)

Hours before the polls open, the races
are tight...fueled by the battle over a

proposed gas tax holiday. Hillary
Clinton expects to win by a bit in

Indiana. Barack Obama expects to take
North Carolina. But neither is taking

anything for granted...seizing
opportunities to make a T-V appearance
(nats

of top ten) or snag a celebrity
endorsement (nats of stevie wonder).
Both

spoke with CBS's Katie Couric...Obama
defending his elect-ability.

(:41 - :51)

(SOT: Senator Barack Obama/Democratic

Presidential Candidate)

18:34:56 "AND THE FACT THAT WE'RE IN
THE LEAD AS A CONSEQUENCE OF THE
RESULTS

OF PRIMARY AND CAUCASUS AS WELL AS THE
POPULAR VOTE INDICATES THE DEGREE TO

WHICH OUR VISION IS THE ONE THAT CAN
WIN IN NOVEMBER."

Obama has picked up 22 new

superdelegates since last month's
Pennsylvania

Primary...Clinton only 13, despite
winning that state.

(1:01 - 1:11)

(SOT: Hillary Clinton/Democratic

Presidential Candidate)

18:38:26 "The delegate race is very
tight. Neither of us can get to the

nomination without getting a lot of
delegates, but I think people are going
to

ask themselves, number one, who's
going to be the best president.

(1:12 - 1:18)

(STAND-UP BRIDGE: Tara Mergener/CBS
News/Washington, D.C.)

"Both candidates expect the race will
continue through June 3rd when the
final

contests are held in Montana and South
Dakota."

But for now, Indiana is a must win for
Senator Clinton and she's counting on

the state's blue collar workers to side
with her Tuesday. Obama's coming off

a rough couple of weeks, but recent
polls show the percentage of voters who

view him favorably has gone up. With
his current 142-delegate lead, Obama

victories in both states could spell
the end for Clinton. Tara Mergener,

<< Good evening, I'm meteorologist
Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. Look for a partly cloudy and
cool night, with lows in the upper 40s.
The warming trend continues Tuesday
and Wednesday, as a weak high pressure
system replaces the departing storm to
our south. We'll notice increasing
sunshine and afternoon highs in the
upper 70s. The high will hold tight
until Thursday. That's when our next
area of low pressure will move in from
the southwest, providing a good chance
of showers and afternoon storms both
Thursday and Friday afternoon. Since

we'll be in the warm sector of the
front, highs will be balmy, with low
80s likely. A brief period of sunshine
returns Saturday with highs in the
upper 60s. A second disturbance will
bring a return of a few showers on
Sunday. For weather anytime turn to
