moving through the Carolinas will
provide a slight chance of showers to
areas along the VA/NC border early this

Tuesday and Wednesday, as a weak high

increasing sunshine and afternoon highs
in the upper 70s. The high will hold
tight until Thursday. That's when our
next area of low pressure will move in

chance of showers and afternoon storms

Since we'll be in the warm sector of

Lost somewhat in the hustle and
bustle of all the weekend activities
and sporting events is the fact that
former Parry McCluer star Charlie
Manuel reached a major milestone with
the Philadelphia Phillies.

Yesterday Manuel picked up his
500th win as a big league manager. His
overall record now stands at 500-428 in
five-plus seasons with the Indians and
Phillies. He has won 280 of those games
with the Phillies.

Manuel was born in Fries and
later starred in several sports at
Parry McCluer after his family moved to
Buena Vista.

The only drawback of that
championship maybe that it came on
April 19th. That means when the
Highlanders take on Georgia in the
first round of the N-C-A-A's this
Saturday they will have a 3-week
lay-off between their Conference Title
and the beginning of the N-C-A-A First

VO-NAT Two years after he and Alanis

Morissette broke off their engagement,
Ryan Reynolds has asked another woman
to marry him.

Reynolds popped the question this time
to Scarlett Johansson. They've been
dating about a year. He's 31, she's 23.
No wedding date has been set yet.

jjadhon@wdbj7.com It is probably a safe bet that
Reynolds and Johansson will not have
any problem paying for their wedding.

But that may not be the case for many
other brides this year.

The cost of gas has pushed the price
of flowers skyhigh.

Alexis Christoforous has some advice.

FLOWERS ARE CRAMMED INTO CHEAP PLASTIC
AT THE CORNER SUPERMARKET...

THE PRICE IS RIGHT.. (7:99. That's not

bad)...ABOUT HALF WHAT YOU WOULD PAY A

INVESTMENT IN ITSELF.

Erin quick sot: "Close to 200"

BUYING YOUR OWN CAN CUT THAT PRICE TO A

MAKE SURE THE STEMS ARE MOIST AND

AND GROWN LOCALLY..

:39-:46 (Jaimee Zanzinger/Executive

doesn't

cost anything to transport them from
states away or even fly them in - say
if

you're having tulips, you don't want
them flown in from Holland.

Of course, shopping for the flowers for

we know, it's all about presentation.

DAVID STARK DESIGNS BOUQUETS AT ALL

(David Stark/Event Planner and

simple and spectacular.

FLOWER SNOBS DISMISS CARNATIONS, BUT
THEY'RE MAKING A COMEBACK..AT LESS THAN

it's beautiful.

AND WHEN YOU MIX BABY'S BREATH WITH
FREESIA, IT'S A PRICEY-LOOKING
