that sent one man to the hospital.

night at 104 Richfield Avenue.
Authorities tell us the man was
taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital and
is being treated for second and third
degree burns.
The cause of the fire is still

a suspect in custody after two people
were shot in Bland County.
Police say the suspect was caught
and airlifted to a Roanoke hospital,
but aren't saying why.
The shooting happened last night
in the Dismal Creek section of Route
606.
Both victims are still alive, but
there is no word on their condition.

connection with a deadly shooting over
the weekend in Amherst County.

Timothy Wayne Wright,
Junior was taken into custody late
yesterday afternoon and is charged with
Felony Murder and several firearms
violations.
Wright is 21 and is from
Amherst.

19-year-old Justin Robert Baumgardner
was found inside his truck in the Elon
area.
Investigators have not said

First the city manager retired,
then the mayor decided not to seek
re-election and now, two new faces will
be joining the city council.
Incumbent Jane Johnson was the
biggest vote-getter in last night's
race with more than 25-hundred votes.
With 22-percent of the vote each
- Bill Jones and Lisa Garst clinched
the other two seats.
Even though six-candidates were
originally running for three-seats,
former council member Chris Clemens was
appointed to a judgeship.

Center. Warmer weather continues to
prevail as an area of high pressure
moves overhead, and eventually off to
the east over the next 24hours.
Afternoon highs will climb into the
upper 70s to near 80 today. Wednesday
brings another day of partly sunny
skies. Clouds will thicken more
Wednesday night as a low pressure
system approaches from the southwest.
Thursday and Friday offer a decent
chance of showers and thunderstorms as
that low enters the Appalachians.
Latest models indicate the front will
stall in the Carolinas over the
weekend, with several disturbances
riding along it. This will keep a 30%
shower chance in for both Saturday and
