he paid it on time.

When NEWS 7 obtained a list of
511 businesses that had not paid their
taxes in 2007, we approached the owner
of Trio Bistro for comment.

Hours after the story aired last
month, the Commissioner launched an
audit of Trio's accounts. Four days
after the story aired Woody got notice
of the audit... along with a bill for
an additional $111.

could contain the following: Heavy rain
(1.00"-2.00" with heavier downpours)
Gusty wind, Hail, Isolated tornadoes.
Most storms will move along rather
quickly, but heavy rain could cause
ponding of water on roads. If a storm

would slow down and "train" over the
same area, flooding may be realized.
Use caution at night and NEVER cross a
flooded roadway. Lows are forecast near
60. Friday will start cloudy with
early showers, then clearing as the day
progresses. Temperatures will stay mild
in the mid 70s. Westerly winds may gust
around 25mph as low pressure tracks off
the coast. Saturday features partly
sunny skies and the slightest chance of
a shower. Highs are forecast in the
upper 60s and lower 70s. Another round
of showers will be possible on Mother's
Day Sunday. Once again, thunderstorms
with heavy rain will be possible,
especially late. Stay tuned for the
latest on the late weekend system!
THURSDAY NIGHT: Rain. Some could be
heavy at times. Low: 60 FRIDAY:
Showers end. Then clearing. High: 74

just long enough to get their laundry

Warthogs vs. Avalanche The unusual one game homestand :00 caught some fans by surprise and kept
the normally brisk Thursday night crowd
down in a size a bit tonight or maybe
those in attendance - no matter how
young - knew the storms were on the
way.

The Avs got a great outing on the
mound from Douglas Arguello. The big
lefty tossed a no hittter through the
first five innings and kept the
Warthogs at bay through six tossing a
shutout.

He also helped his cause with a
nice pickoff as Arguello, James Van
Ostrand and shortstop Tim Torre get
Paul Orlando caught in a pickle and tag

him out trying to head back to first. *CG final Winston-Salem

0 The game was suspended after six, Salem tied at nothing to nothing. The game 0 will be finished on May 30th.

mstevens@wdbj7.com The Tech women opened up the ACC
softball tournament today with a 7-to-4
win over Maryland.

They got the win even though
Angela Tincher gave up three runs in
the first inning.

Tech plays Florida State tomorrow
at 12:30.

Virginia was shutout by regular
season champ North Carolina 6-to-0.

GRAPHIC=RADFORD SOFTBALL In the Big South - second seeded

Ashley Taylor got the win the
Highlanders, improving to 29-8 on the

OQ=...JUNE AMATEUR DRAFT." << Most days it's not even fair.

(END SOT) NAT SOUND

O'Brien steps on the hill for the
Titans and one by one the opposing
batters are humbled by his 90 mile an
hour fast ball.

MIKEY OBRIEN

With just three games left before
the start of district tournament play,
O'Brien is working on one of the best
seasons ever for a high school player
in Southwest Virginia. He's 7 and 0
with an earned run average of zero
point 33. He's faced 154 batters this
season - struck out 87 of them and
walked just 6.

Plus, as the team's cleanup
hitter he's hit six homers - three of
them grand slams - and driven in 30
runs.

JASON TAYLOR

But what really got the team's
attention was what happened to O'Brien
in the offseason. After fully
recovering from a strained bicep in his
pitching arm that limited his
effectiveness last season, O'Brien took
part in the Commonwealth Games and
played in countless other showcase
events up and down the east coast.

After one such trip to Florida in
October of last year, he returned home
feeling ill and was diagnosed with type
one diabetes.

MIKEY O'BRIEN

Doctors have told O'Brien that a
virus he likely contracted on the
flight to Florida triggered the
diabetes. He now gives himself four
shots of insulin a day and battles the
condition just like he does opposing
batters - head on.

MIKEY O'BRIEN

O'Brien already has a scholarship
to play at Winthrop next season, but
major league scouts have been at every
one of his starts this year and he's
almost certain to be selected in the
June amateur draft.
