<< Good morning, I'm meteorologist Leo
Hirsbrunner in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. A warm front will be north of
the NEWS7 viewing area Thursday;
keeping us in the "warm sector" of air.
South winds are expected around
10-15mph with gusts near 25mph. Highs
are forecast in the mid and upper 70s.
Expect sun and clouds, with shower and
thunderstorm chances developing during
the day. Storm chances are best across
the Piedmont where more sun and
instability are expected. A few
afternoon and early evening storms
could turn strong to severe.
Additionally, heavy rain may develop
late Thursday - although it's possible
the heaviest rain stays just north of
the area. Lows Thursday night are
slated near 60. As the system departs,
showers early Friday will exit, with
clearing in the afternoon. Friday will

probably be breezy. Westerly winds may
gust to 25mph. Highs in the mid 70s.
Mother's Day weekend looks like a split
decision. Saturday appears pretty sunny
right now, with showers and
thunderstorms returning Sunday. Highs
this weekend in the lower 70s.
THURSDAY: Afternoon showers and storms.

approaching and many students will be
tossing their old, half used binders

and notebooks in the trash.

But a Roanoke man says those
supplies could go to good use.

VO NAT Gary Hunt has been going to
Belize for 16 years.

Initially he started taking small
items each time for the children, but
realized there was a real need for
school supplies.

That's how the Bookbag Santa
project started and it has grown
significantly in the past few years.

Gary's running the Belize booth
at the Local Colors festival, Saturday
May 17th, and will have a
supplies-collection box there.

He's collecting partially used
pens, pencils, spiral notebook paper,
bookbags - anything school related.

Not new items, but gently used.

The idea is to recycle instead of
toss in the garbage.

<< Good morning, I'm meteorologist Leo
Hirsbrunner in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. A warm front will be north of
the NEWS7 viewing area Thursday;
keeping us in the "warm sector" of air.
South winds are expected around
10-15mph with gusts near 25mph. Highs
are forecast in the mid and upper 70s.
Expect sun and clouds, with shower and
thunderstorm chances developing during
the day. Storm chances are best across
the Piedmont where more sun and
instability are expected. A few
afternoon and early evening storms
could turn strong to severe.
Additionally, heavy rain may develop
late Thursday - although it's possible
the heaviest rain stays just north of
the area. Lows Thursday night are
slated near 60. As the system departs,
showers early Friday will exit, with
clearing in the afternoon. Friday will
probably be breezy. Westerly winds may
gust to 25mph. Highs in the mid 70s.

Mother's Day weekend looks like a split
decision. Saturday appears pretty sunny
right now, with showers and
thunderstorms returning Sunday. Highs
this weekend in the lower 70s.
THURSDAY: Afternoon showers and storms.
High: 77 For weather anytime turn to
