Hillary Clinton's not going
anywhere....yet.
(SOT SEN. HILLARY
CLINTON/D-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE
190800): "I AM IN THIS
RACE, I AM STAYING IN THIS RACE
BECAUSE I BELIEVE-- (huge applause)
She told a friendly group of supporters
last night she has no plans to step
aside...but CBS News has learned some
of her top advisors have recommended
she
stay in for another couple
weeks.....then bow out gracefully.
After disappointing results from
Tuesday's primaries, she's without a
realistic shot at the nomination. She
doesn't have the delegates, she
doesn't have the popular vote, and the
cash flow has slowed to a trickle,
forcing her to again loan the campaign
money.
(NATSOT CLINTON don't font 191004): "I
UNDERSTAND THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE GETTING
A LITTLE NERVOUS..."
There's been a growing alarm among
democrats that this hard-fought battle
for
the nomination will cost them come
November. But many in the party now
seem
content - at least publicly - to let
Clinton figure out her fate on her own.
(SOT SEN. CHRISTOPHER DODD/D-CT/OBAMA
SUPPORTER 175338): "THE LAST THING THAT
HILLARY CLINTON OR BILL CLINTON WANT IS
TO HAVE DEMOCRATS RUN THE RISK OF
LOSING AN ELECTION IN NOVEMBER. THEY
WILL NOT LET THAT HAPPEN."
Even as she pledges not to go down
without a fight, Clinton herself has
become
much more forthcoming about her desire
for unity.
(SOT CLINTON 191038): "WE WILL BRING
OUR PARTY TOGETHER - BECAUSE ANYBODY
WHO
VOTED FOR SENATOR OBAMA OR FOR ME HAS
HARDLY ANYTHING IN COMMON WITH SENATOR
MCCAIN, AND WE'RE GONNA MAKE THAT
CASE!"
(oncam)
TBD - GETTING FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN
DELEGATES SEATED ONE THING KEEPING HER
THE
RACE BUT LOOKS LIKE MICHIGAN HAS BEEN
RESOLVED....
