United Nations aid is finally on the
ground in Myanmar.
(More natz unloading)
And it is not a moment too soon for
thousands of cyclone victims in
desperate
need of supplies. It's been nearly a
week since the killer storm hit, but
initial attempts by international
relief agencies to help were delayed by
the
secretive military regime.
hundreds of thousands are homeless
and there are fears that lack of food
and
fresh drinking water could push the
death count to 100,000.
so far, the nation known to many as
Burma has stopped US cargo planes from
landing.
Sot: Eric John/U.S. Ambassador to
Thailand
"This morning we and our Thai allies
thought we had a decision from the
Burmese leadership to allow the C-130
in and as of now we don't have that
decision."
(Drew Levinson Bridge/United Nations)
there's also the fear that the army
will siphon off the aid. U-N officials
and other agencies want workers to
deliver help directly to those who need
it, but myanmar leaders are also
getting in the way of visas.
Sot: Anthony Banbury/World Food Program
"Right now, more than a million human
beings are in desperate need of
assistance who aren't getting it."
Days after the cyclone...entire
villages remain underwater. Officials
are
receiving reports of malaria and there
is concern filthy water and poor
sanitation will lead to waterborne
illness.
With pressure from its top ally China,
Myanmar's generals are slowly allowing
international help....but with so many
in dire need....it is likely too late
for thousands.

ATTACK CAN BE VERY DIFFERENT FROM A
MAN'S.
9-16 (Sot Debbie Ann Schneider/Heart
Attack Survivor,
"I actually thought I was having a
little touch of asthma, or I couldn't
take a full breath entirely.
OFTEN TIMES .. EVEN HOSPITALS MISS THE
SIGNS WITH FEMALES .
(Sot Debbie Ann Schneider/Heart Attack
Survivor )
"I walk in and tell the lady I think I
am having a heart attack and she sort
of didn't want to get off the phone.
A NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDY SAYS THAT
SCHNEIDER IS NOT ALONEAND IS FURTHER
PROOF THAT WOMEN'S HEART ATTACKS ARE
GOING UNDIAGNOSED.
34-44 (Sot Dr. Niece Goldberg/NYU
Langone Medical Center. )
"They don't have that typical heart
attack of the middle aged businessman
clutching his chestinstead the
symptoms are more suttle, it could be
shortness of breath, fatigue."
AND ALSO NAUSEA, CHEST PRESSURE AND
UPPER BACK PAIN.
48-57 (karen brown/Bridge/manhattan)
"The study also found that six months
after their first severe heart attack
women were more likely to die then men,
likely from being undertreated."
(Sot Dr. Niece Goldberg/NYU Langone
Medical Center1)
"It seems we are still back in the dark
ages of women and cardiovascular
disease.
Dr. niece goldberg of nyu's medical
center says BECAUSE WOMEN'S ARTERIES
ARE BLOCKED DIFFERENTLY...WOMEN ARE
LESS LIKELY TO RECEIVE ARTERY OPENING
SURGERY AND TO BE GIVEN CRUCIAL heart
MEDICATION KNOWN AS BETA-BLOCKERS.
(Sot Debbie Ann Schneider/ )
"I'm really greatful for my life now."
ITS BEEN THREE YEARS SINCE SCHNIEDER'S
HEART ATTACK AND SHE HAS ADVICE FOR ALL
WOMEN.
(Sot Debbie Ann Schneider,
"Know the signs, ask your Dr., and
push? Push! and make sure somebody
listens."
DOCTORS HOPE THE STUDY WILL ENCOURAGE
MORE WOMEN TO ASK FOR TREATMENT AND
MORE PHYSICIANS TO LISTEN.

Yesterday, a Dodgers fan sitting in
the stands at the Mets- Dodgers game
made a spectacular catch.
Dodgers pitcher, Scott Proctor threw
to Mets' batter, Ryan Church, who
crushed the ball into the far right-
field stand.
A quick- thinking dad stood up to
catch the ball in his gloved hand,
while holding his small son in his
OTHER hand.
And somehow, he managed to hold onto
both....
