This was the scene around 10:30 last
night in the Brosville section of
Pittsylvania County.
The rain was coming down sideways for
awhile, but the most impressive thing
about the storm was the lightning.
It was constant, intense, and at
times lit up the entire sky.
Driving conditions were so bad, our
news crew actually had to pull over to
the side of the road.
The storm lasted over an hour.
We should get a better idea of the
how much damage it caused later this
morning.

snapped like twigs.
Witnesses say one of the hardest hit
areas was the Double Head Resort in
Lawrence County.

milemarker 168, northbound in Botetourt
County.
Authorities tell us a car hit a
guardrail and spun around on the
roadway.
In order to miss the car, a
tractor trailer swerved and flipped
over in the median.
The driver was taken to a local
hospital with minor injuries.
Both lanes northbound are still
closed this morning and will be for
several hours.
Traffic is being detoured to exit
168.

killed yesterday morning while working
on a Bedford County subdivision.
The fall happened just
before 11:00 at the Farmington
subdivision off Perrowville Road in
Forest.
Sheriff's deputies say the
worker fell from the first floor onto a
concrete basement floor.
The man's name has not been
released but he worked for Thomas
Builders.
Invesitgators from the
state Department of Labor are looking
into the death.

crashing down in about an hour..

Fire ravaged this home in the
11-hundred block of 6th Street,
Southeast yesterday morning forcing
crews to tear it down after the walls
started to bow.
The Creedles (Creed-uhls)- who
didn't want to talk on camera- were
inside the house when the fire started.
Both were able to escape, but Tom
Creedle cut and burned his hands trying
to save their cat who didn't make it.
There was so much stuff inside
the house that kept crews from being
able to get a handle on the blaze and
there were some scary moments when the
fire jumped.

night in the Brosville section of
Pittsylvania County.
The rain was coming down sideways for
awhile but the most impressive thing
about the storm was the lightning.
It was constant, intense, and at
times lit up the entire sky.
Driving conditions were so bad our
news crew actually had to pull over to
the side of the road.
The storm lasted over a hour.

how much damage it caused later this

Trial in Giles County has reopened.

Randall Lee Smith - shot two campers in
the Dismal area just off the trial.
According to authorities, Smith
made friends with the two campers then
shot the men several times each.
It happened in the same area
Smith was convicted of killing two

completely stripped off this house.

areas was the Double Head Resort in
Lawrence County.

Rain and storms have come down fast
and furious across the viewing
area...and southside got the brunt of
it.
Driving conditions were so bad our
news crew actually had to pull over to
the side of the road in Pittsylvania
The storm lasted over an hour.

fire still burning in Danville.
Crews are still on the scene of the
fire that destroyed some of the
historic Long Mill Buildings.
Investigators say the fire
started in a pile of debris.

A section of the Appalachian Trail
in Giles County is now open again for
hikers.
It was closed Tuesday night after
investigators say convicted murderer -
Randall Lee Smith - shot two campers in
the Dismal area, just off the trail.

Charlotte County.

State Police say Bus 38 was
headed east on Route 40, when it ran
off the road and hit a tree.
It happened around 8:15 yesterday
morning near Charlotte Court House.
32 students were on the bus.
Seven were treated for minor
injuries.
The driver, 57-year-old Phyllis
Pollard, was killed.
Police say Pollard may have
suffered a medical emergency that led
to the crash.
