arrests Friday.
The Amherst County Sheriff's Office,
along with Amherst County Public
Schools, announced that an undercover
deputy sheriff has been enrolled as a
student at the high school for the past
ten months.
As a result of the project, four
juvenile students and two students over
the age of 18 have been charged and
arrested for distribution of marijuana
and other drugs. One student has been
charged, but not arrested yet.
During the investigation, authorities
say 18 purchases of drugs were made
from students, seven were made within
1,000 feet of school property.
Eighteen-year-old Friday Football Extra
Player of the Week Peter O'Brian Rose
was one of the students arrested. He's
been charged with two counts of
distribution of marijuana and two
counts of distribution of drugs within
1,000 feet of a school.
Rose was the star quarterback for the
Lancers. He recently signed to play for
Virginia Tech.
Jody Vaughn Ramsey, who's 18, has been
charged with distribution of marijuana.
Ramsey is the catcher for the high
school's baseball team.
Ramsey and Rose are being held at the
Amherst County Jail. Three of the
juvenile suspects are being held at the
Lynchburg Detention Center.>>

running a puppy mill will not serve
jail time for 40 guilty counts of
neglect and animal cruelty.

Junior Horton owns Horton's Pups,
a dog-breeding business in Carroll
County.
Last year, he voluntarily handed
over hundreds of dogs because he was
over his limit.
The dogs were treated and put up
for adoption.
Today a judge ruled Horton

He'll also have to pay

Sherman of Radford faces up to twelve

camera as he was able to turn on the
ignition without any keys.
He turned on the wipers, blinkers
and headlights before driving around
the parking lot.
He eventually drove over a
12-foot embankment and crashed into a
house.
Other than his arm being in a
cast, he is okay.

home the pole. Kyle Busch, the hottest
thing in NASCAR right now, went out
last among the 21 drivers and completed
his three-lap run along with a
four-tire pit stop in just under 2
minutes and 2 seconds. That time
knocked Jeff Gordon off the pole by
more than eight-tenths of a second.
