An undercover drug operation at
Amherst County High School leads to
multiple arrests.

Seven current and former students
are facing charges of distributing
drugs like marijuana.

*CG locator File Tape Among those arrested today - the 2007 school's star quarterback.

Peter Rose led the Lancer's in
back-to-back state championships.

He recently committed to play
football for Virginia Tech.

Fellow athlete Jody Ramsey is
also facing charges.

Ramsey is a catcher on the
Amherst County baseball team.

The arrests came with the help of
a sheriff's deputy, who pretended to be
a student at the the school for 10
months.

The decoy was able to buy drugs
from students 18 different times.

Many are hoping today's arrests
will prevent others from selling drugs

at school.

Hokies vs. Cardinals The tourney is being played at :00 the Tennessee Vols home diamond in
Knoxville.

And Angela Tincher was getting it
done, as usual. The senior
All-American allowed just one hit in 10
innings and sturck out 19. The win
moved her to 34-6 on the year.

And she can thank Misty Hall who
won it in the 10th with a walk-off solo
homer. The Hokies beat Louisville
1-to-nothing and will play Tennessee
tomorrow at Noon.

Muskingum vs. Lynchburg Today, the four day event opened :00 up at the Moyer Complex with four games
including one involving ODAC member
Lynchburg College.

The Hornets fell behind Muskingum
one to nothing after three innings, but
did a good job of shutting the Muskies
down the rest of the way. Look at the
nice job Kirsten Swank and Sarah Spicer
do of throwing out the runner trying to
steal second.

Lynchburg kept it tight the rest
of hte way, but the Muskies would win
it 1-to-nothing. Lynchburg will next
play at 1:30 tomorrow.

Speed The rain stayed away from :00 tonight's unique time trials at the
Lowe's Motro Speedway.

And as luck would have it the
final driver on the track would take
home the pole. Kyle Busch, the hottest
thing in NASCAR right now, went out
last among the 21 drivers and completed
his three-lap run along with a
four-tire pit stop in just under 2
minutes and 2 seconds. That time
knocked Jeff Gordon off the pole by
more than eight-tenths of a second.

Let's take a look at the
qualifying order - keep in mind that
three more drivers will be added to the

Peter Rose #4 Rose is not the first former

Player of the week to be charged with a

crime, but his arrest is certainly a
surprise to many.

In our dealings with the Amherst
senior he was always a yes sir, no sir
kind of kid - who appeared to have
plenty of respect for his teammates and
those on the opposing team.

This past season was an eventful
one for him as he was first named
Amherst's homecoming king and then
later in the regionals he battled back
from a shoulder injury to eventually
lead the team to its second straight
state title.

Rose has signed to attend
Virginia Tech, but right now, until
this situation is resolved, he won't
even be graduating from high school.

years ago, it has grown into one of the

Blacksburg's Courtney Ellenbogen

time, Ellenbogen was teeing it up on
the L-P-G-A Tour

the experience helped her mental game.

ever at the Robertson, all part of a
different mindset heading into this
year's Tournament.
