Mary Gilkes (Jilks) was attacked
at the Go-Mart on Williamson Road in
Roanoke, Saturday night.

She says she was beaten by
Dantonio dan-tonio Foster who saw her
at the store and asked if her son was
responsible for killing his friend,
former William Fleming basketball
player James Stokes.

He was killed earlier that day
outside the Afton Garden Apartments on

Hunt Avenue.

Gilkes says she and Foster got
into an argument and it turned
physical.

Police say it was after this
confrontation that Dantonio Foster,
along with William Steele, Junior, took
off.

Officer Bryan Lawrence caught up
with the two, but Steele allegedly
knocked him unconscious.

Both men were arrested a short
time later.
