The crash has caused a gas leak
in the area.

Police say Shirley Overby died
when her car crossed the center line
and hit an SUV.
This happend on Route 8 just
North of Route 8-18.
The other driver had minor

boaters with boating season just three
weeks away.

beginning of National Boat Safety Week.
At Claytor Lake State Park,
owners were able to get their boats
inspected and make sure they're
properly fitted with safety gear.
Rescue sticks were also available
for boaters to practice throwing at
targets in the water.
Even with all this though, Coast
Guard officials say the most important
thing anyone can do on the water is
wear a life jacket.

down more than a year ago during a
manhunt in Blacksburg.

washed cars trying to raise money for
Sutphin's memorial scholarship fund.
Any child whose parent works as
a New River Valley law enforcement
officer can apply for the scholarship.

It's a clear sign that doctors plan to
keep Senator Edward Kennedy in the
hospital longer. His family delivered
suitcases to the front doors of Boston
Massachusetts General after Kennedy
suffered a seizure. He was walking his
dogs outside the family's Cape Cod
compound Saturday morning.

suffered a second, more serious seizure
while he was airlifted here to Boston

The 76-year-old Senator is reportedly
talking and joking, even watching a Red
Sox game with his family. These AP
photos show niece Caroline Kennedy and
eldest son Edward Kennedy, Jr.
arriving. Senator John Kerry also came
to his
bedside.

quickly to the campaign trail.

The senior statesman has been actively

months earlier, Kennedy had surgery to
clear blockage in a major neck artery
in hopes of preventing a stroke.
Doctors can't yet point to a cause for
Saturday's seizures, and Kennedy's
undergoing a battery of tests. It
could be at least 48 hours before the

were dodging bullets this weekend after
police say a man carrying a
semiautomatic rifle opened fire.

tackled the gunman to the ground until
backup arrived.

the scene of a drug raid at a nightclub
when all this was going on.
The driver was trapped in the
ambulance once the wheels stopped

View Mall this afternoon as shoppers
tried to make history and help a local
hospital set a new world record

Carilion needed to take blood
pressure from two thousand 303 people
in 24 hours to achieve that new record.
The preliminary count, shows they
beat that old record by about 50
people.
The screenings weren't all about
the contest but mainly, to make sure
people catch and correct high blood
pressure also known as the silent
killer.

Saturday night thanks to an approaching
cold front. There's a slight chance of
a sprinkle or light shower in the
western mountains. Lows (not as cool)
in the mid 50s. Remaining breezy with
gusts near 25-30mph.
Sunday calls for mostly cloudy skies
and a 60% shower chance. The best
chance of rain is between 10:00am and
6:00pm. Amounts around 0.10" in most
locations. Highs near 70. Westerly
winds stay busy near 10-20mph with
gusts closer to 30mph. Slow clearing
Sunday night with lows near 50 and
diminishing breezes.
Monday looks sunny and pleasant with
highs around the lower 70s. Showers and
possible storms next Tuesday, then
drier Wednesday, before more rain
chances Thursday. Highs in the 70s next
week with lows in the 50s.
Temperatures have been (and will
remain) at or below average most days
over the upcoming week. Currently,
there's a large ridge in the western
United States. Warmth on the west coast
will gradually move east during the
next six to eight days. Our "cooler
than average" temperatures should be
replaced by a substantial warming trend
by late next weekend into the following
week. Who knows, records may be
threatened locally at that time!

Nascar circuit in Charlotte, and it
didn't take long for the fireworks to
get started in the hundred lap race.

Allmendinger and Sam Hornish
finished 1-2 in the showdown to earn
transfer spots into the big show while
Kasey Kahne won the fan vote.

start of the main event, but eventually
blew an engine at the end of the second
segment and was done for the night.
Kahne had a great final pit stop
to put him out front when it counted.
He beat Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth,
Jimmie Johnson, and Tony Stewart to the
checkers becoming the first driver
voted in to win the all star event,

beating Tennessee in dramatic fashion
this afternoon in Knoxville.

Friday. Today, An turned in a 3-over
round of 74. He is tied for third at
3-under par headed to Sunday, three
shots of the pace.
James Back followed up a 69
with an even par 72. Back of Cerritos,
California is 5 shots off the lead,
held by Crawford Reeves of Greenville,
South Carolina at 6-under.
In the older girls group,
Blacksburg's Courtney Ellenbogen
struggled to a round of 77 today. Here
she just misses the putt for birdie and
is 7 shots back of the top spot.
Victoria Tanco, the Argentine
sensation carded a 74 to go with an
opening 68. She is tied for 2nd place
2 shots out.
The leader at 2-under par is
Kristina Wong of Vestal, New York.
Wong turned in a 69 on Saturday. A-J
Crouch of Jacksonville, Florida and
Davis Womble of High Point are tied for
the 14 and under boys lead while Laura
Murray of Tipp City, Ohio leads the
younger girls group.

A car has crashed into a house
causing a gas leak...

million bucks...600 thousand each
before taxes.
Sad ending for this wife.
She didn't get the ending she'd
hoped for...the judge dismissed the
