fixing up the front plaza to make room
for more seating and better access for
passengers.


Traffic lanes in front of the
terminal will be closed while
construction is going on...


So that means curbside pick up
and drop off won't be allowed.


In the meantime, free parking
will be available for half an hour in
the short term lot.


The construction is expected to
last through the summer

carnival rides that go haywire.


According to state inspectors--a
mechanical failure caused a ride at a
county fair to collapse in California
on Friday.


At least 24 people were hurt.


That accident is causing some in
our area to question just how safe are
the rides here.

elementary school -- an elementary
school next year.

Then the PTA is expected to head

convert Forest Park to an overage
academy for students at risk of

about proposed changes to the special
education system.


What they don't like about the
regulations is that changes could be


made to their child's special education
services without their consent, parents
would be removed from the functional
behavioral assessment team, and they
would receive fewer progress reports on
their child.

This new playground at Rocky Mount
Elementary is designed so that all
children can play.. .even those in
wheelchairs or with special needs.


That's important at this school
because at least 40 of its student are

excused from paying sales taxes on
back-to-school supplies and
energy-saving appliances.


Now it's hurricane preparedness
supplies.


The state's first ever Hurricane
Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday begins
May 25th - that's next Sunday - and
continues through May 31st.


During that week, sales tax will
not be collected on generators costing
a thousand dollars or less, or on
nearly two dozen other items ranging
from flashlights to duct tape.


The Atlantic hurricane season
begins June 1st.

The Lady Vols needed to beat the
Hokies twice in order to advance. If

regional for the first time ever.

Robertson.


In the Girls 15 to 18 Division,
Victoria Tanco from Argentina came into
the final round trailing the lead by 2
strokes, but her birdie on 15 gave
switched things around as she had a 2
stroke lead with 3 holes to play.


But on 18 Kristina Wong had this
birdie putt to tie for the lead and go
to a playoff, She would run the putt a
good distance by and settle for a bogey
and second place.


Tanco would tap in for a routine
par on the final Hole, and the 14 year
hold claims the Girls upper division
title.

derby, but this year's event featured
