is Byran Lawrence doing after suffering
from paralysis.

Tonight, we're happy to report
he's in high spirits.

unconsicious after a beating by a
Roanoke teen back on May 10th.

Lawrence is now at a
rehabilitation facility in Atlanta and
as News 7's Justin McLeod discovered
his recovery is now expected to take
months.

came home with.

He says his son was abused
by an aide at a Montgomery County
Elementary School.

Crutchfield of Blacksburg with
misdemeanor contributing to the
delinquency of a minor.

He's an instruction aide at
Falling Branch Elementary School in
Christiansburg.

The child's father- Chris Price-
told News 7 - Crutchfield grabbed his
son at school last week- and left hand
shaped bruises on each of the boy's
arms.

now Police in Roanoke County need help
identifying a man accused of bank
robbery.

The hold-up took place just
before 3:P-M at the B-B-and-T branch at
the intersection of Williamson Road and
Manor Street.

Police say the suspect walked
into the bank, demanded money and then
ran away.

Investigators say the suspect was
wearing blue jeans, a dark blue T
shirt, a ball cap and white tennis
shoes.

He also had a bandage on his
right arm.

August 2007 The Board says Kitty
Rodgers was fired from from the job
because she didn't live up to her
contract.

Rodgers had been on PAID
administrative leave since the end of
March.

The board voted unanimously to
let her go saying: "Doctor Rodgers'
employment as Superintendent for the
Craig Co. School Division shall be and
hereby is terminated, without
additional pay or benefits, effective
May 20th, 2008."

Ron Gordon, who has been the
acting superintendent, will continue in
that role while the school board
reviews applications.

to get exercise, but it can also be
dangerous.

The Blue Ridge Bicycle Club
hosted the "Ride of Silence" this
afternoon in Roanoke.

Bicyclists rode the nine-mile
stretch in silence in order to honor
those who have been killed or injured
while cycling.

There was also a ride in Radford,
where a university professor died in
April after having been struck by a car
while riding a bike.

leukemia several years ago and now

people in Southside have new jobs.

The Swedish furniture maker IKEA
is known for its trendy furniture --
and now, some of those products are
made in our area.

The furniture company "cut the

log" on its first North American plant
this morning.

The Pittsylvania County facility
will make bookshelves, coffee tables,
and entertainment centers, exclusively
for IKEA stores.

Nearly 200 people are working
here now and they hope to add another
600 workers as the company expands.

And with the price so high,
Congress says it is time for the big
oil companies to start answering
questions.

everyone at the pump while the
companies are making very large
profits.

The national average is a record
3-81 a gallon marking a 19 percent
spike in gas over the last year.

The oil reps maintained that they
are not responsible for the high price
at the pump -- it is simply supply and
demand.

The First game featured
Blacksburg taking on Christianburg.

The Spartans got 2 runs in the
4th. Katie Stauffer puts the ball in

making the headlines and not a track
promoter.

been the driving force in NASCAR iwith
his words and actions for the past 33
years announced his retirement today at
the age of 69.

Wheeler did everything from defy
the critics and install lights at

a mile and a half in length.

He also was the first promoter to
treat fans with a full blown pre-race
show that usually included the absurd.

Wheeler says he plans to write a
book and do some commentary in the
