But as the long campaign season draws
to a close, he's

now captured a majority of the

Obama needs fewer than 100 more,

AMERICA..." (nat crowd)

Having locked-in a majority of pledged
delegates, the Illinois Senator last

night sounded more ready than ever to
leave behind the drawn-out democratic

fight and move onto November.

(SOT SEN. BARACK OBAMA/D-PRESIDENTIAL

CANDIDATE): "I WILL LEAVE IT UP TO

CLINTON/D-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE):
"THIS CONTINUES TO BE A

TOUGH FIGHT AND I HAVE FOUGHT IT THE
ONLY WAY I KNOW HOW....WITH
DETERMINATION

- BY NEVER GIVING UP AND NEVER GIVING
IN..."

Her Kentucky success underscores a
chronic Obama struggle with white

working-class voters. It's a
demographic that doesn't have as much
clout as

it used to, but it could easily swing
battleground states in the general

election.

(nats)

With the next democratic contest not
till early June, the candidates now
head

to Florida. Obama needs to make up
ground there after not campaiging much
for

the state's disputed primary.

While he works for November, Clinton's
still fighting to get those votes

counted. That would be a major boost
to her electability argument....but

that's a case that's becoming
increasingly hard to make.

GRAPHIC=ABORTION BAN A federal appeals court says

Virginia's law banning a type of
late-term abortion is still
unconstitutional, even though a similar
federal ban has been upheld by the U-S
Supreme Court.

The 2-1 decision by the fourth
U-S Circuit Court of Appeals affirms
the same court's 20-05 ruling striking
down the law.

The appeals court cited a key
difference between the federal and
state bans on a procedure that abortion
opponents call

"partial-birth abortion."

The federal law protects doctors
who set out to perform a legal abortion
that by accident becomes the banned
procedure.

The Virginia law provides no such
protection.
