Bedford County involving three mobile
homes...
Our News-7 photographer on the
scene says one of the mobile homes was
destroyed.
The other two were heavily
damaged.
Everyone made it out safely.
Authorities were called to
Millners Drive around 4 a-m.
That's located just off Route 221
near Forest.
There's no word yet on what
caused the fire.

for a man accused in a bank robbery.

The hold-up took place just
before three yesterday afternoon at the
B-B-and-T branch at the intersection of
Williamson Road and Manor Street.
Police say the suspect walked
into the bank, demanded money and then
ran away.
Investigators say the suspect was
wearing blue jeans, a dark blue T
shirt, a ball cap and white tennis
shoes.
He also had a bandage on his
right arm.

Atlanta for rehab after being attacked
on duty...Here in our area, many people

The Blue Ridge Bicycle Club
hosted the "Ride of Silence" yesterday
afternoon in Roanoke.
Bicyclists rode the nine-mile
stretch in silence in order to honor
those who have been killed or injured
while cycling.
There was also a ride in Radford,
where a university professor died in
April after having been struck by a car
while riding a bike.

board will need a new
superintendent...now that the previous
one was fired.

Rodgers was fired because she didn't
live up to her contract.
Rodgers had been on PAID
administrative leave since the end of
March.
The board voted unanimously to
let her go saying: "Doctor Rodgers'
employment as Superintendent for the
Craig Co. School Division shall be and
hereby is terminated, without
additional pay or benefits, effective
May 20th, 2008."
Ron Gordon, who has been the
acting superintendent, will continue in
that role while the school board
reviews applications.

snatching incident.

A woman says she was getting into
her vehicle, the white truck on the
right, when someone grabbed her purse,

taken the life of the daughter of a
Grammy- winning Christian music star.

Steven Curtis Chapman--seen here
during a performance in 1995-- lost his
five-year-old daughter Maria.
Authorities say Maria's teenage
brother struck and killed her with an
S-U-V in the driveway of the family's
home near Nashville.
The brother, whose name and exact age
weren't available,
apparently didn't see his sister.
No charges are expected.
Chapman and his wife have promoted
international adoption.
They have three daughters from China,
including Maria. They also have three
biological children.
