in Roanoke to pay tribute to emergency
responders - who've also given their
life in the line of duty.

last night in Northwest Roanoke.

Last Night Shots rang out around 10:30 PM in
the 800 block of Seventh Street.
Authorities say 29-year-old Jason
Bonds was shot and taken Roanoke
Memorial Hospital for treatment.
No word on how he's doing.
Police also tell us they had to
pepper spray one person and put them in
a squad car after the person threatened
to shoot someone else.

this coming week will be the first
person put to death in Virginia since
Governor Tim Kaine lifted a brief
moratorium on executions in April.
Kevin Green is set to die Tuesday
for killing a convenience store owner
during a robbery in Brunswick County 10
years ago.
Greene's lawyers have asked the
Supreme Court to halt his execution
while justices consider reviewing his
case.

morning after losing control of his
motorcycle.

Hillsville Volunteer FD Dickie Edmonds was killed on
Route 100 around 10:30.
He lost control of his bike while
trying to pass a truck on the passenger
side.

died last night following a one car
accident around 11 o'clock.
State Police say June Welch of
Hurt, Virginia ran off the side of the
road and overtuned on Route 6-38.

have begun the remembrances of the war
dead and missing veterans.

bittersweet. Her son Matt was captured,

A storm chaser caught these images near
Quinter, Kansas Friday, one of about
17 twisters that ripped through the
western and central part of that state.
2 people lost their lives...driving in
this car that was blown off the road
and into a wheat field. Emergency
officials are searching for more
victims.

Clean up is underway in Windsor after a
tornado cut a 35-mile long swath
through Northern Colorado Thursday,
damaging 596 homes in six towns and
killing one person.

into our extreme western counties.
Monday will be much warmer with highs
in the mid 80s thanks to a southwest
wind at 10mph.
A cold front sagging into the area from
the north supplies scattered shower and
thunderstorm chances Tuesday and
Wednesday; with partly sunny skies
Thursday and Friday.
The UV Index will be VERY HIGH this
weekend. Unprotected skin can burn

supposed to play Wake Forest at 8
o'clock tonight in the ACC baseball
tournament in Jacksonville, but North
Carolina and Florida State waited out a
lightning delay in the late innings of
a game that took nearly 5 hours before
the Seminoles won 9-6.
So the Cavs and Deacs are still
in the 4th inning scoreless. But that
game really doesn't mean a whole lot,
because Virginia is already in
tomorrow's championship game against
Miami at 1pm, due to having the best
tournament record in their divisional
half of the bracket.

regional in Ann Arbor.

Neighbors say it sounds like a

singing, electric guitars, drums and
tambourines.
A mediator tried to facilitate
