We have some traffic information
to tell you about.

The Franklin Road bridge in
Roanoke is closed this morning.

According to dispatchers
something inside the bridge was
smoking, but engineers could not
determine what it was....

The bridge is closed from the
southbound entrance to 220 to Reserve
Ave.

There is no word as to when the
bridge will reopen, but few traffic
delays are expected.

shooting in Northwest Roanoke.

Friday Night Shots rang out around 10:30 in
the 800 block of Seventh Street.

Authorities say 29-year-old Jason
Bonds was shot and taken Roanoke
Memorial Hospital for treatment.

No word on how he's doing.

But, police tell us they had to
pepper spray one person and put him in
a squad car after he threatened to
shoot someone.

Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department Dickie Edmonds was killed on Courtesy: Route 100 yesterday.

He lost control of his bike while
trying to pass a truck on the passenger
side.

The 40-year-old was pronounced
dead at the scene.

In Pittsylvania County- a woman
died Friday night following a single
car accident.

It happened around 11 o'clock.

State Police say June Welch of
Hurt, Virginia ran off the side of the
road and overtuned on Route 6-38.

Hurt was 40 years old.

to remember our fallen soldiers,
hundreds of families gathered in
Roanoke to pay tribute to emergency
responders - who've also given their
life in the line of duty.

At yesterday's National EMS
Memorial Service, 73 of these workers
were honored.

Their names added to the "Tree of
Life." -- each name enscripted on
bronze oak leaves.

Historically, the leaf represents
strength, valor and character.

An northern Oklahoma pig farm is
in shambles after taking a direct hit
from a tornado yesterday afternoon.

A tornado struck all eight barns
at the Seaboard Pork Farm in Kingfisher
County, Oklahoma and four barns were
totally destroyed.

Amazingly, farm officials said
only a few pigs were killed during the
twister.

About eight-thousand piglets

occupy the facility near Hennessey,
Oklahoma.

Six workers were working during
the storm and they report having less
than two minutes to take shelter.

No one was injured.

The storm moved slowly across
rural northern Oklahoma spawning more
than five tornadoes.

Hoards of tourists in the High
Sierra for Memorial Day weekend are in
for a unlikely surprise.

Unseasonably cold weather brought
snow to the Sierra Mountains of
California and Nevada yesterday.

The Franklin Road bridge in
Roanoke is closed this morning.

According to dispatchers
something inside the bridge was
smoking, but engineers could not
determine what it was....

The bridge is closed from the
southbound entrance to 220 to Reserve
Ave.

There is no word as to when the
bridge will reopen, but few traffic
delays are expected.

Park officials say the child died
after falling off a cliff with at least

homes after a fire swept through their
building in historic Philadelphia.

night.

Three fire departments responded
to the call that sent six firefighters
to the hospital with minor injuries.

But crews were able to keep the
blaze from spreading to other

The cause is still under
investigation.

yesterday in downtown.

At the conclusion of the race
many of the participants took home
trophies.

Appalachian Power sponsored the
festival run.

people who took part were elementary
school students and married couples.

One couple in fact celebrated
their 50th anniversary by running the

Robbie "Kaptain" Knievel is
picking up where his famous stuntman
father, Evel Knievel- left off.

Robbie jumped over 24 delivery
trucks yesterday, breaking his father's
record of 14 buses at an amusement park
near Cincinnati.

The jump on his motorcycle was a
record 220 feet.

His father Evel Knievel jumped
115 feet at the same park back in 1975.
Knievel died last year at the age of
69.
