A head-on collision between a

fire truck and a pick-up truck killed
two people in Botetourt County.

the Eagle Rock Volunteer fire
department was responding to a
different wreck near Kelleys Market in
the Eagle Rock section of the county
when it crashed.

While headed north, the fire
truck collided head-on with a pick-up
truck -- killing two people inside the
pick-up.

County -- this one involving a
motorcycle.

It happened at around five

yesterday afternoon on Route 8, just
south of Route 678.

State Police say 30-year-old
Michael Dale Andrews of Dublin lost
control of his motorcycle, hit an
embankment, and was thrown.

Authorities say he was wearing a
helmet.

The accident is still under
investigation.

12- year- old boy, have died in a fiery
six- vehicle crash in Los Angeles.

the crash happened last night, when a
van ran a red light and was struck by
another van.

She says the first van hit the
second van from the side-- causing a
chain reaction that set the other three
vehicles on fire.

The 12- year- old victim died
after he was ejected from a vehicle.

In all, 14 people were taken to area
hospitals.

Pollack took home two Oscars for best
director and best picture in 1985 for
the film "Out of Africa," starring
Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. He
admitted to being surprised that he
beat out the films "Prizzi's Honor" and
"The Color Purple."

But he certainly had a knack for
pairing up great performers, like

He was behind the camera in 1982 for
Tootsie but on the set, he got into so
many arguments with actor Dustin
Hoffman, Hoffman begged him to play his
cantankerous agent in the film. Pollack

"Eyes Wide Shut" with Nicole Kidman and
Tom Cruise�

gave Pollack an opportunity to work

Kubrick and Woody Allen.

"It really is a holiday for me because
it's the other guys' problem. All I
have to worry about is the other guy's
problem. All I've got to worry about is
my lines and my part which is
relatively simple compared to the
responsibility for the whole film."

Late in life, Pollack appeared in
various films and TV shows, portraying
himself. In 2007, he played opposite
George Clooney in the academy award
nominated Michael Clayton. He made his
final film appearance in "Made of
Honor" just released in theaters just a
few weeks ago�capping off a long career
of film-making that earned him both

Kansas was hit by tornadoes again

yesterday, just

three days after storms left two people
dead.

badly damaged by a tornado that swept

The twister killed six people in the

was responding to a different wreck
near Kelleys Market in the Eagle Rock

truck -- killing two people inside the
pick-up.
