A tractor trailer accident has
snarled traffic on Interstate 81 for
much of the morning... and the delays
will last into the afternoon.

Northbound traffic has been
at a crawl for several hours. V-DOT

repair some extensive guard rail

A 55- year- old man was run over by a
subway train yesterday in New York.
Transit officials say THREE lead cars
had passed over the victim before the
train managed to stop.
But when paramedics brought him in, it
looked more like he'd just fallen down
a flight of stairs.

train.

State Police say a fire truck
driven by Lucas McCullogh crossed the

taken to the hospital where he was
treated and released.

two years last night.. it was a
Brunswick County man who killed a
convenience store owner back in 19- 98.
Governor Kaine declined to stop
the execution of 31- year- old Kevin
Green, moments after the U-S Supreme
Court also refused to intervene.
Green's execution was scheduled
to begin at 9 p.m., but was delayed for
about an hour when his attorneys asked
a federal judge for a temporary
restraining order.
That late appeal was turned down.
Green died by lethal injection at
10- 05 last night at Greensville
Correctional Center in Jarratt.

southeast. Highs are forecast in the
60s and lower 70s. A few showers are
still possible, with partial clearing
for some locations from north to south.
Skies continue to clear Wednesday
night with lows (cooler) near 50.
High pressure builds Thursday with
mostly sunny skies. Highs are slated a
touch warmer in the mid and upper 70s.
By Friday, expect a blend of sunshine
and clouds with highs on southwesterly
winds warming into the lower 80s. As
temperatures warm, humidity will
increase, as well!
While not a washout, the weekend will
offer more rain and thunderstorm
chances, with Saturday looking a bit
more "wet" than Sunday. Rain chances
are around 50% Saturday, and near 30%
Sunday. Highs are forecast between
80-85 this weekend.

It runs from Franklin County to
Dickinson County on the Kentucky
stateline.
Saturday, the Eastern gateway
will have its grand opening.

tradition, much of which comes from
Franklin County.
Saturday's event features live
heritage music, of course, as well as
vintage cars displayed by the outlaw
cruisers.
After the ribbon cutting, guests
will travel the Crooked Road west to
Sheriff Shively's Storehouse for more
cars and more music.

The pride of Eagle Rock was named
the USA national softball player of the
year.

one of just 8 Division 1 teams still
playing for a National Championship.
Grant Kittelson caught up with
the team and those who gathered for the
sendoff.

Journey to Oklahoma City and the
Women's College World Series.
Frank Beamer brought the entire
Football Coaching staff down to see the
team off and even offered up some
jewelry as motivation. They were not
the only Athletic Department people an
hand, Members of the Women's Basketball
Staff and Athletic Director Jim Weaver
also came out for the send off.

Tech made no bones about it all
season long, that reaching the Women's
College World Series for the first time
ever was an attainable goal for this
team in only it's 13th year as a
Softball Program.

A judge has approved the pop icon's
adoption of a Malawian boy she met in
an orphanage two years ago.
Madonna and husband, Guy Ritchie,
have been caring for the child, David
Banda, in London.
David will turn three in November.
His mother died when he was a month
old, and his father placed him in an
orphanage because he didn't think he
could take care of him on his own.
